Fitz Wilks was the Sr. Service Technician assigned to a sump pump repair job at our home in Oakville. After an initial install by Clarke Basement Systems became hampered due to a perceived blockage in the inadequate sump exit line, Fitz was dispatched to our site for a follow up evaluation. What happened after that is something that just isn’t seen in modern day contractor work – he cared. In our situation, the existing sump pit was locked up with silt and after repeated efforts to dredge out the pit, Fitz simply wouldn’t give up and ended up breaking the concrete up in our basement, customizing a new sump liner, installing a new triple safe system with battery backup and tying in all weepers cleanly into the final drainage site. He core drilled our foundation wall with minimal mess and installed a new dual exit line, ice guards and 4 inch exit line to the front ditch of our property. No small feat as this was a 110 foot run. My wife and I cannot comprehend how many times something went wrong (murphy’s law) with this job, but Fitz refused to give up. The company supported his decision to come back on two separate occasions to re-do the work until it was perfect. He personally shovelled at least 3 wheel barrow’s full of silt and gravel by hand, removed it all from our home and replaced with clean stone to ensure the best solution. As I said earlier, it rarely happens anymore as so for that reason we thought it prudent to give Fitz and Clarke Basement Systems top marks for their final work. Our home’s value has been protected and we have multiple backup solutions in place should a power outage ever create challenges for the sump system. Clean, efficient, fair along with clear communication and constant reassurance. Very impressed.
