I needed help in a hurry due to unusual circumstances and Mex Painting & Cleaning fit me the same day I called. In two hours, two cleaners cleaned my 3-level split home (except for a couple of bedrooms that didn't need it), and it's just shining now. After calling around, I knew this was at a reasonable rate, too. They were so kind, courteous and respectful, asked what cleaners I wanted to use, and made sure they were cleaning to my satisfaction. They quickly got down to business and were very industrious and careful with everything. They even went over the top and cleaned more than I asked for! Acclaimed! has provided service for us before and also replaced our old furnace with a new one. As always, each service person was respectful and demonstrated knowledge and care about the work they performed. We were impressed that asbestos was an issue for them, and that they sealed joints of old asbestos to prevent any elements from entering our system. Not only does this company call to remind us of service maintenance needs, they provide incentives in discounts, and they follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction, explaining the results we should see in differences that show the work was done well. Scheduling is great, too. They understand if you have an urgent need and do all they can to expedite things and meet your needs. They are always friendly and reliable, and they all get along, working well together, with smooth communication, like a big family. I will continue to call on them if we have needs in heating, cooling and ventilation. Very happy with Acclaimed!

Waterworks Renovations just finished a project for us, renovating one bathroom and one washroom, and Wow! --what fantastic results! We keep going in to the rooms, just to look at everything and marvel! In the quote process, Waterworks provided the most detail and most reasonable labour estimates. Their products are of very high-quality. And while also working to ensure results would meet our expectations, Warren and his assistant, Tanis, also worked to ensure our job stayed within budget. Warren and Tanis are great; they had good advice, ideas we hadn’t thought of, and the experience needed to explain things well. Plus, they were open to our ideas throughout the process. At one point, we wanted to cut more costs, having selected materials that were overreaching. I started out asking about a faucet I saw online. Warren suggested we start looking to cut elsewhere first and not go with a low-quality faucet, explaining, "When it comes to plumbing, you don't want anything to go wrong. Let's see where else we can cut, and then in the end, come back to plumbing if needed, but keep your fixtures of good quality." He explained about the drain and parts of fixtures I normally don't think about. I immediately saw the wisdom of his advice. He showed alternatives to our selections that were just as lovely but more reasonably priced. Finally, he introduced me to another faucet of high quality that matches our other fixtures, and cost less. "Plus," he said "look how sleek it is, it will look better with your sink," and he was right. Waterworks' policy is to schedule a job only after all materials and parts have arrived. This is the way to go. I know of others whose renovations have lasted months because their contractor started work, then stopped to wait for parts, then started and stopped again. Waterworks got our project done in 1-1/2 weeks! Good policy! We consider mould- and mildew-proof materials a necessity and it was good to see Waterworks did, too. They use Wedi board behind all wet areas, which is water impermeable and mould- and mildew-proof. Kevin and Davis were the two-man reno team. They came every morning when they said they would, explained what they would do that day, worked hard, worked quickly, and accomplished what they set out to do. The quality of their work shows they are professionals; everything thought out, every detail seen to, excellent work that proved them to be masters of their trades. And so accommodating; if an application could go one way or another, they asked to make sure they knew how we wanted it done. Said they wanted to make sure we'd be happy with the job, and they meant it. Such nice and fun personalities, it felt like friends were working in our home. They kindly answered questions and were very helpful when I asked for things a certain way, always with a smile and calm manner. They went over and above in all areas, even fixing things that originally weren't built right. We weren't looking for a luxurious, expensive reno; we just wanted something simple, bright, and a little modern. But our bathroom and washroom are now absolutely beautiful! And everything was on-schedule with costs exactly as in the final estimate. I definitely recommend this company and can't say enough about them. Just an excellent experience; we're very happy.

The German Handyman did a great job with two projects. 1st, he was able to fix one lamp in a set of spiral cascading pendant lights, where a bulb had burned into the lamp's socket. This was tricky, because not only was the socket shot, it had melted onto the lamp's glass. He was able to save the glass by delicately chiseling the melted part. Also, because he was concerned that the bulb should hang at just the right height (remaining inside the lamp), he did a time-consuming search for just the right replacement socket and found it (this was an old fixture)! Yea! Next, we told him of a trellis system we saw in Europe and that we needed two very tall trellises attached to a wall. Well, using much creativity, and being resourceful in use of materials, he designed trellises that look fantastic and installed these for a great effect at half the cost of a "designer" trellis. We were impressed by his critical thinking, his creativity, his hard work and his cheerful and lovely manner. We found his rate to be reasonable (especially for the time he invested) and it was true to his quote. We recommend him for anything! ..., with his smarts, he can do anything. We understand tiling is a particular specialty of his, and we intend to call him back for this, once we're ready to begin this kind of project. A Five-Star job!

Trevor of Expert Paint painted our house and garage, and later, an interior room. He carefully prepped the surfaces, pressure washing, scraping and sanding before painting. He evened out wall that had been damaged, patched ceiling cracks really well, and patched a hole in a wall. He made paint recommendations, and, beforehand, explained every step. He also communicated as he went along. He really knows this kind of work. The estimate he gave us, and the estimates for materials were spot on--no surprises. We get many compliments on the job Trevor did. Looks fantastic! We would highly recommend him to anyone. Thank you, Trevor!

Acclaimed! has an A+ rating with BBB and we can see why. Dan in Sales visited to assess our needs and provide recommendations and estimates. He explained about different kinds of furnaces, and about brand reliability, and gave us estimates on three products, and we bought a high efficiency Trane furnace. He also noticed a label on our old furnace from a prior service job that gave us a discount, and he was happy to count this. The men who came to remove our old furnace were very respectful and took care of keeping things clean. They noticed some pipe work from another product installation that was of inferior material and they replaced it with a solid pipe (something extra?) and we appreciated this. We also liked how they took care in sealing everything really well. We're happy with this furnace and like how quiet it is. Everyone was really nice, helpful and respectful; Melinda, too, who called with reminders and additional explanations. Altogether a very good experience.

High recommendation! We knew Trevor from his snow removal service--very reliable. Learning his core expertise was as a painter, we discussed our house and garage with him--immediately evident he knew his business, he gave information and maintenance tips. Trevor did a great job, in preparation and in the actual painting. He cares about his work, explains his strategies and his approach to all aspects of the job is professional, even clean-up after. An excellent job and the price was very reasonable. We got compliments on his work. He also fixed our fence and you wouldn't guess it was ever in disrepair.

Neumann Plumbing was recommended to us and we're so happy with them (we've used their services twice)! It's been a while since they last came, but I'm so glad to submit a review. Their expertise enabled them to recognize the problems precisely and solve them quickly, saving us money, I'm sure. Also, unpackaging the faucet we ordered on our own, we doubted that it would fit our sink, but they managed it and it looks lovely, you'd never guess. They solved and fixed problems that another plumber could not. The plumbers are respectful, personable, communicated about time, and caring for the best solutions. Their fees were very reasonable for such good quality work. An excellent company, we'd recommend and would call on them again, if needed.

We needed a the duct pipe from a wood stove removed and the roof repaired. Excell Roofing had done our roof previously (a beautiful job), and so we called them again. Denis came and brought roof tiles to match ours perfectly. The price was reasonable and the work was well done. As he did with the original job, he replaced wood and put in an ice shield, which we love since it prevents damming in winter. Happy to recommend Excell again!

Looking for a different electrician than we had previously, we found Robart Electrical Service on Homestars and also checked them with the BBB. We had several jobs; install a new switch to reconnect a 3rd light so it could be used (was disconnected when another company put in an outdoor light sensor), repair electrical wiring and hexagonal units so that broken light fixtures could be replaced (the other company said couldn’t be fixed without going into the attic, which they couldn’t do), install new fixtures, install new GFCI outlets, and pull down wires and create a new unit in the kitchen. Robart sent us Nathan and Quinn to do the job. With a really nice manner, they started by listening, then looked and poked around, said “hmm,” a couple of times, and then gave me an assessment before starting their work. They fixed everything, keeping me informed as was appropriate and also kindly explained when I had questions. As Rob said, Nathan has the mind of a detective and tries to figure out how he can best help the customer. They were very courteous, respectful, quietly carried out their work, asked before moving to another part of the house, and they were done in half the time I thought it would take. We found their rates very reasonable. Everything done to our satisfaction. Robart will be our electrical company from now on. The 3rd light that couldn’t be used? ..., well, all they needed was a 3-way switchplate! Got the 3-way, fixed that. Light at the top of the stairs that needed attic access? They fixed that, too, without going into the attic. The GFCI outlets? We first asked for one, nixing the 2nd to save a bit just now. But since they were on proximate walls, Nathan called and got a okay for a discount on the second, so we got both. We love these guys!

We found Excell Roofing on the BBB website; excellent rating with no complaints in past years, a rating which made them stand out from the others. I followed up with getting a clearance letter from WCB, as well as calling the references given. Everything checked out well and the references from the 3 people were excellent. The owner is Denis Malenfant. Denis' assessment of our needs were in line with what we'd received from others. His estimate happened to be lowest, and was reasonable. Excell performed the work on time (in one day!), and it looks good. They do not simply place new shingles over old, they remove the old, put in new wood and then install the new (so that the placement of new material is not compromised by a dependency on the condition of the old). I asked him afterwards, if he noticed if our eavestroughs needed cleaning, and he said, "Oh, we cleaned them. Sure, we sweep off the roof when we've finished, and so we clean out the troughs, too." Everything on the ground was clean afterwards, too, not a nail anywhere, you wouldn't have known they did all of this work. Plus, we liked his guarantee for labour and that he provides the manufacturer's warranty. (Some service people forget about this, which just makes extra work to keep track and call about these.) We have recommended him to our neighbors, and would gladly recommend to others. All best wishes to Denis and his team at Excell!
