Tried to DOUBLE my bill. Overcharged. Under qualified.
Booked for 12:30 pm, arrived at 1:00 pm. They show up a half hour late for our booked time, charged me for the half hour they weren't there. The two did not work well together, neither knew how to maneuver items to get through doorways and I had to educate them. I had such a small amount of stuff, even with their ridiculous snail pace it only took 2 hours from the time they parked until they were loaded and ready to leave. I went downstairs a half hour after they were loaded and in the truck and found them still sitting there, when questioned they left quickly but I will add that they also charged me for that 30 minutes of just sitting there thinking I wouldn't notice. It's a 45 minute to 1 hour max drive doing the limit or less, from the apartment to my house north of the city. It took them 1.5 hours to arrive. AGAIN they charged me for the mysterious extra half hour it took them to get to the house. I know it's not uncommon for certain workers to milk the time since they're billing out by the hour... I was somewhat expecting slow and laid back movers. It was the 1.5 hours they added on top of my move time where they had just been sitting in the truck. When I called to complain, the "general manager" of this franchise with a thick accent named "George" took my statement said he would not charge for that extra time and would call me back... No call back, and he decided to bill me for the additional time anyway. I called again and George said there was nothing they would do. So this is the verdict: Even with the half hour sitting time, the half hour misplaced driving time, and the slow pace. From 1:00 pm start to 5:00 pm finish that came to 4 hours. It would have been 3 if the movers were actually moving. They tried charging me for 6 before they left, and settled at 5. They tried to DOUBLE my bill. They ended up overcharging me 2 hours in the end. I don't recommend this type of company for a moving service. Also, when the one guy was attempting to back the truck into the loading bay, he was standing between the concrete wall and the truck and no eye contact was being made. I had to scream to tell the truck to stop and when he did, the one mover was pinned between the truck and the wall and could barely slide out. Almost had a fatality, will be calling higher ups on this. Update: After contacting the VP, the quote was adjusted to the original estimate agreed upon before the move for 4.5hours within an hour. I was still overcharged, but at least I didn't have to pay more on top of the original overshot estimate. Thank you Chuck Resnik for handling this issue so professionally. I know the safety concerns will be investigated further as well.
