Be very careful and make the same mistake I did
I asked for a sweep and they came over did the sweep, the tech goes in his car comes back to give me the invoice and on the invoice he wrote these comments. Chimney liner is unsafe to use, it is not to code and broken. So my Question is why did he complete the sweep and leave me a useless cleaned fireplace ? So it gets even better so I asked them how much to repair the chimney liner, he said that they were not even able to do the job so he recommends me to another company and gives me the phone # . I call the company and they tell me that it will cost me $150.00 to come and inspect my already inspected and cleaned chimney liner by magic touch chimney sweeps. They charged me to sweep my liner and then also there incompetence to not be able to repair the chimney liner shows you to very careful on who you decide to choose for your services. PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND READ ALL THE REVIEWS AND DON'T RUSH INTO THINGS LIKE IT DID . HAVE A GREAT DAY

- Company Response
Hi Rob. I am surprised you chose to post this review since you first e-mailed me asking for an explanation of why we cleaned a chimney with a defective liner. I took the time to respond to you via e-mail and explain to you in great detail that we had no way of knowing about the damaged liner until we were cleaning the chimney and in fact the majority of the work had already been done at that point. I would like to remind you the you called us after having a chimney fire. You told us the fire department told you to have your chimney cleaned, so you called us and asked us to come and clean your chimney. That is what we did. In the process of cleaning the chimney, our certified technician who has serviced over 20,000 chimneys noticed a problem with the liner. As I explained to you in our e-mail conversation, he would not and could not have noticed there was a problem with the liner unless he was sweeping the chimney. The problem is not visible to the naked eye. Adam could have simply cleaned your chimney as requested, written the receipt collected our fee and left. But that is not the way we conduct our business. This would have left you in a dangerous situation. Instead he did what any responsible certified technician would do. We noted the problem on the receipt for your information. I don't think it is fair to call us incompetent because we could not install a new liner for you. The nature of the installation you need is simply beyond the scope of work we do so we recommended a very reputable company who we know would do the job properly. If anything, I would think this would give you comfort that we are making the recommendation on your behalf - there is no gain for us to recommend a service we don't do.The company we recommended to you is one of the most experienced in our industry, if they charge a service charge for their estimates, that is at their discretion and we really can't be held accountable for that. Our overriding concern is yours and your family's safety we simply made the right recommendation for you. I understand you don't like the information we gave you but remember we did not cause the problem we only reported what we found and as previously stated, we would not have discovered this problem had we not been cleaning your chimney.
Thank you for your point of view and I am sorry your are still not satisfied, however, at least you know not to use your fireplace until the liner has been corrected.
Kindest regards,
Marc
