I came across Eric Jansen Plumbing & Heating Service in Cardinal by pure chance, searching for available specialists to instal an oil tank on a short notice -- and got a lot more than expected! For a very competitive price, Eric has kindly agreed to pick up the oil tank from a store in Brockville (41 km away), did a great job with installing the tank in our basement according to all the requirements and with great responsibility (it was not an easy task lowering it through a hole in the floor!), AND, being a certified plumber, provided a free advice on our water pressure system. Not only was the day off work spent productively (I learnt a few things) but during 5 hours spent in the basement Eric also shared many useful bits on the area and places to visit/eat at (Tim's Fish n' Chips in Prescott anyone?). In sum, a great service delivered by a very decent fellow. Highly recommended.

We found about Tim Heney's Clean Sweep through a WETT inspector who examined our old wood stove that required repairs to be fully certified. He went through a mental list of professionals who might be able to do the job right and said: "Call Tim", which we did. Tim came over to our place from Perth (88km!), conducted a thorough assessment of all the repairs required and: replaced the bricks and rope, installed new chimney parts (up to code now) and swiped the chimney. The work was done diligently, fast and with many useful comments that we, as new homeowners, appreciated a lot. Thanks, Tim!

We retained Moe Rayyes from CWIS to inspect our well and test water when we purchased an old farm house two months ago. He did a good job then, so we asked him to instal an appropriate level water filtration system to get rid of iron, sulfur etc and make our water drinkable. Moe did an excellent job! He always responded quickly to our numerous queries about different options in the market (the intitial tests showed over 3mmg of iron!), explained how different options might address our problems, came on evenings to test the water and offered a very compettitive solution including a water softener and reverse osmosis system to address our concerns and needs. The water is drinkable now and it was a good experience overall. Thank you

We engaged Jason of TPM to assist us with reclaiming chunks of our property from the overgrown ivy, weeds, bush and other vegetation that went unchecked for many years. Jason was quick to respond and works diligently to clear area after area, making our property look much better (and with fewer insects around). We recently discovered Gendron Antiques in Stittsville - what a great store! They carry both antiques and reproductions. On many products the pricing is dual - what the item would cost unfinished versus refinished, leaving people who enjoy a project, such as myself, to buy and refinish the piece. It's definitely worth the drive from Ottawa and visit. I picked up this small dresser for my wife and she loved it!

One of the pleasant discoveries in Spencerville (of many) is Mike MacNaughtan's Home Hardware store. We're engaged in a big reno project on an old house, and many a time one needs different supplies that one doesn't foresee ahead of time. Mike and his team are superb with providing advice on some practices, products and contractors in the area who might assist with various projects. The store is quite big and has a wide variety of supplies for every home-based project (I guess). Highly recommended.

How can one comment about a septic tank pumping? "They came, they connected the pipes, the pumped..."? Well, while it is true that the job doesn't sound exciting, the way the service is delievred might make a difference perhaps. We were satisfied with what the crew from the Valley Sanitation Service did at our property. They made sure no damage is done to vegetation during the access to the tank, performed the job quickly and offered advice on what are some of the ways to keep the system operating properly. To a novice, every bit of useful information is helpful and we appreciated it.

We bought an old rural property with no records for the septic system from previous owners. In the race to fulfil all the bid conditions, we came across Doyle Home Inspections who were quick to respond. Reg and his team did an excellent job in finding as much as they could about the tank, field and old pipe system buried underneath to provide us with schemes of what's 'under there'. They dug separate holes, examined everything and prepared a detailed report, with verbal instructions to boot. Good job!
