My wife and I had a fantastic experience with Splashworks. After a very frustrating and expensive engagement with a Design/Build firm, which lasted several months and never got out of the "design" phase, we had pretty much given up on our dream of expanding our kitchen. Exasperated, we took up our neighbour’s invite to check out their new kitchen. We had jealously watched Splashworks show up every day at 8:00 am and finish that project in less time than we had spent struggling with the most basic issues of design with our (supposedly) highly rated firm. When we went over to check out our neighbour’s kitchen (and bath) we were blown away by what we saw and heard (from their experience) and immediately booked a consultation with Splashworks. Jerry and Cindy needed to spend only a little time in their first visit, looked at our layout and got an idea what we were trying to achieve. We live in a fairly old North Toronto home but wanted a kitchen that a chef would envy but expanded to serve as an entertainment area for guests while seamlessly blending into outdoor living room space - All on a fairly tight budget.
When they invited us to their showroom a few days later to show us a notional layout with no-commitment we didn’t know what to expect- since we had been burned before. One look at their concept and we immediately wished we had started with Splashworks from the outset. Jerry and Cindy just “got” what we were looking for and, for the first time in quite a while, we got very excited about the possibilities. Even though it was just notional, they had an estimated cost with more resolution than I was getting from the other firm’s “detailed” estimates- they were also lower cost but included better quality materials. The next phase involved a more detailed refinement of the concept for a nominal fee with some extra features that we had requested. This fee was very reasonable, especially since it was removed from the overall cost once we went with them for the project.
Our initial excitement only escalated as we proceeded with the project. Their entire process was great. It was a nice blend of collaborative creativity married with pragmatic execution and a tenacity in meeting their commitments to times and schedule. They made everything easy, stress free and fun – the materials for the countertops, the floors, the cabinetry, fixtures, taps, sinks were all chosen in one on-site visit to their showroom. The demo and building of our addition was done with care to minimize the impact to us as we lived through the reno (this is very hard to do- but they made it bearable). They scheduled all the city inspections at regular intervals and kept to a pretty ambitious schedule. The staff were all very polite, professional and just plain nice. Jerry kept us informed on a daily basis on what had been done that day and what the plan was for the next day. I hadn’t realized how important this would be – but when your home is undergoing a relatively major reno this peace of mind was invaluable.
Overall, Splashworks completed the project two weeks ahead of schedule, kept to their price and delivered us a dream kitchen, entertainment area and outdoor living space. I highly recommend them.
