We finally decided to change our inefficient 19-year old rented hot water tank. Enercare technician came to our place to see whether the new tank could be installed with new white pipes without major work to our finished basement The old tank was hooked up with old black pipes. The sad verdict was that our finished basement ceiling had to be opened up substantially resulting in extra installation cost. A second independent installer offered the same opinion. Both technicians disregarded our suggestions that they could take advantage of the existing openings cut through the ceiling, when we had our new furnace installed to replace the old furnace (also 19-year old and inefficient). With much distress, we contacted Spring Home who had installed our new furnace in the past. To our big relief, we were advised that the installation of the new water tank can be done without opening our basement ceiling. On top of that, we also got a good quote for a top name hot water tank. With their ingenuity, Spring Home installers did a clean job, taking full advantage of the existing openings created by the installation of the new furnace a few years ago. Spring Home also offered me a discount for my 2017 preventative maintenance when we reported some minor dents on the newly installed hot water tank. Such classy act! Finally, while performing this year maintenance, Spring Home installer charged me both the inspection of the central humidifier (also installed by Spring Home together with the new furnace) and a new replacement pad. When informing Cheryl that we only needed the new pad, Spring Home gladly refunded me the cost of the humidifier inspection. Another excellent customer service act! Having my furnace, central humidifier and hot water tank sold and installed by Spring Home, we confidently conclude that there’s NO need to shop around for our AC replacement in the near future!
