Highly recommend When raccoons started to tear shingles from our roof, we contacted a roofer to repair. While on the roof, he noted that there was no mortar on the roof side of the chimney, something that we couldn't see. After much research, we contacted Red Robin Masonry to do the fix. Upon inspection, they noted it was so bad that they were surprised that it had not collapsed. This was consistent with the Roofer's observation. We had a choice of a rebuild or tuck-pointing and we chose the latter. In addition to tuck-pointing, they also installed silicone drip edge on underside of chimney cap. They were timely & punctual, neat & tidy, and explained everything they had done.

Highly Recommend. Mega City Roofing replaced our shingles almost 20 years ago and we were most pleased with the job. This past summer, it was discovered that raccoons were tearing up and damaging shingles, not just once, but on 3 separate occasions. Pleased with our previous experience with Mega City Roofing, it was a no brainer to immediately call Tom. Tom & his son came to the house to patch the damage within a couple of days. Noting that there was new eavestroughing on the house, they were very conscious of where they placed their ladder as not to cause any damage. They found 3 spots that needed to be repaired and did so. While on the roof, Tom also noted that the chimney was completely void of mortar on the roof side of the house. A few weeks later, the raccoons damaged a different section of the roof, and a few weeks after that, the same thing. Like the first time, Tom attended the house (next day) and patched all damaged sections. By now, the decision was made to have the entire roof replaced and put up some raccoon deterrents. On the day of, Tom's crew arrived bright and early and got right to work, tarping the property, the neighbour's property, and protecting our doors & windows. They were polite, quick, & efficient. In addition to all the items discussed in the contract, (type of shingle, deck armor, etc.) Mega City also replaced all roof vents. In addition to roofing the house, the shed were shingled as well. Tom and his team were so meticulous that other than having a fantastic looking roof, there was no other evidence that any work had taken place at the house that day. In fact, several neighbours commented on how impressed they were with Mega City Roofing. Thank you Tom, and your team.

In addition to needing our 25 year old eavestrough, soffits, fascia, & downspouts replaced, we also had a section over our front porch that had been protected by an enclosure for more than 30 years that needed protection. The soft wood was now exposed to the elements and gaps in the fascia and trim were an invitation to wasps and other undesired creatures. We also had a wood shed in the back yard that needed attention. We received quotes from 3 other companies and choose Century Aluminum for a number of reasons and are happy we did. As requested, we received 2 separate quotes; one for the house and one for the shed. Their quotes were competitive and extremely detailed. They were the only company to advise that they may not be able to panel the back of the shed due to the 9.5" space between it and the fence. This was a legitimate point, a concern we had, and we appreciated their honesty. They were also the only company to provide a copy of their Certificate of Insurance up front with their quote. Gary was professional and attentive to all questions, concerns, and needs. We did have some unique challenges and he listened to our concerns and provided suggestions and together, we believe we made the best decisions for our home. Two days before Gary dropped off the colour samples, we had a huge downpour and the water had started to compromise the house at the back door. Without hesitation, Gary volunteered to climb up to the eavestrough and provided us with a temporary fix. The work began exactly within the timelines that we were quoted with. During the job, Gary & his team were punctual, professional, and skilled. The jobs took place within the timelines of the quote, and everything was done to the letter of the contract. As for the shed, not only were they able to panel the back, but they also squared the door for us so that now, it actually shuts properly. Thank you Century Aluminum, we could not have asked for better.

This review is long overdue. Living in Toronto all my life, I have a used Homestars on numerous occasions to find contractors for various projects, and always with great success. Two years ago, I had to sell my Father's house in a very short timeline. The 2 story, 1700 sq foot house which was located in Peterborough, needed some sprucing up at 22 years, but I was not familiar with contractors in the Peterborough area. I was thrilled to find Advantage House Painters Inc. on Homestars, with a good rating, and advertising work in the Peterborough area. I made an appointment with Chris, and we went through the house together, discussing the wallpaper, heavy furniture, nail holes, and timelines. He provided me with a detailed written estimate in two parts; one price if I removed the wallpaper myself of the price if they removed the wallpaper. (I removed the wallpaper). Chris was able to commit to the timelines I had, and was even able to make a couple of small ammendments to the contract that we had touched upon during our inital meeting in the winter. Chris, Derek, & Jason also provided some great insight to colour selection which received positive feedback from various Real Estate Agents. Overall I was very pleased with Chris, Derek & Jason, the workmanship, attention to detail, customer service, and price. I told Chris that my own house will need painting soon and that I will be calling on his services again.
