I had asked Stephani Kawaja to give me a quote for my bedroom and staircase area. She quoted me for patching, sanding, washing, 2 coats of painting over wall, crown molding and baseboards. I thought it was expensive but thought maybe the quality would be worth it. There was no sanding done, the walls were not prep'd at all. The baseboards were left untouched. There were paint stains all over my staircase and bedroom. After insisting Stephany did come and finish the baseboards but I could have done a 100 times better job myself.

Company Response

I completed the job at Ushma's two months into the summer. When I did the estimate she explained to me that they did all of the painting in the house themselves but could not reach the cutting along the ceiling in the stairwell because they didn't have the proper ladder, and didn't get to the bedroom which she wanted me to paint. Because they painted everything themselves there was already a lot of splattered paint on the stairs and floors in the hallway, so I am positive that was not from myself or my painters. As well, there was a lot of dust and piles of dirt on the floor from workers putting in the baseboards before us that we cleaned before we started painting.

The expectation for the work was patching in the hallway on one wall and ceiling in their bedroom, painting of certain walls in the hallway, and painting of walls and crown moulding and baseboards. All of these things were completed, except a small portion of the baseboards that we missed that I insisted on coming back to complete, which she eventually let me do. At the end of the job Ushma was not pleased with the quality of work and insisted that we did not paint two coats, even though we had. To try and resolve the problem I offered to paint the window frames and frame of their closet (she initially had expected we were going to paint this but it was not on the agreement and showed that to her). Even after coming back to fix the baseboard and paint the frames she was still not very pleased and explained that she thought she could have done a better job.

I was apologetic and explained in the end there was miscommunication about the expectation of the project and what was to be done. After the conversation we had, there was nothing left to be said, however I did think she understood the situation and that the problem was solved. Once I saw this post I called to see if there was anything else I could do to rectify this situation and I did not get a return call.
