I coordinated the fence job coz my neighbors couldn’t give a hoot. The design of the fence was dictated by one neighbor whose fence was done last year and the others involved on this latest project were anxious to keep the same impractical design and I was at the tail end of the domino effect. Pratema, the owner, realized that I was at the short end of every stick and came up with an ingenious way to help mitigate my frustration, at least on a couple of fronts. I really appreciated this as it showed that she cares. The fence is looking solid and lovely and only time will tell if the posts were well drilled in. The only glitch was that one of her crew members was constantly asking for beer which was rather unprofessional. Apart from that, the job was completed on time and Pratema has the integrity that one can depend on. Ashley Fong

Most contractors I have encountered don’t make the cut for a review. When I do write, it’s with fairness, warts and all. The deck was handsomely built and it is a pride and joy just to look at it. The only glitch was that the exterior odd bits and pieces of the triple timber on the first landing and the lower two-inch section of the stairs not covered/dressed in Azek, the material for the rest of the deck. I had to hustle for it but it was quickly resolved with Steve, a.k.a. The Whip. He’s an affable guy and it was always a pleasure to have some light bantering with him before he flies off to some corner of the GTA for his next task. The backbone crew of Ronnie and Mike was delightful. They were polite, well mannered, respectful of my private space and importantly, very engaged when I needed something explained. I spent some time watching them work and it’s like watching a HGTV show in my own backyard and they didn’t mind my presence. There was a two week delay on the railings but we have to be mindful that it’s the summer high season. Overall, it’s excellent work by Royal Decks and the municipal inspection passed with flying colors. Thank you. Ashley Fong

It’s amazing how clear the back garden view is after the wood shutters were in place, that replaced the one-inch plastic Venetian blinds. Mike is very passionate about his work and meticulous in the installation. I paid more for the three layers of premium coating as I wanted an unblemished look and a silky feel to the touch. Thanks Mike!

I had sterling service from Yosh Chhabra. My renovations were particularly fraught with missing/mismatched hardware and a valve that didn’t work but that all was sorted out with the dealer and manufacturer. My melting episode was the hefty restocking fee and return freight charges (back to Montreal) on the tub. Not only was Yosh there to assist in his very patient way, but also managed to have management stepped in to find ways to help balance my budget. I couldn’t be happier in my dealings with Yosh and Bath Emporium. Thank you. Ashley Fong

The real estate developer installed Ariston washer dryer combo in my building complex and I needed a replacement after 5 years. Not every store carries the brand but was fortunate to find Aniks Appliance carrying it. Was very pleased with the discount, prompt delivery and installation. And also a very expedient emailed copy of the extended warranty. Ibrahim is a very straight forward person to deal with and I heartily recommend his service. Ashley
