My dryer has stopped heating so, despite the negative reviews, I called QuickFix Appliances. I was told that the “service fee” was $80 for someone to come out to diagnose the problem. The man came out the next day, stood in front of my dryer and told me it would cost an additional $220 in labour costs for him to open up the dryer to see what was wrong – plus the cost of any parts needed. I asked him how much the part would cost and he replied that he didn’t know since he didn’t know what is wrong with it. In his words “I’m not psychic.” He told me he would not be able to tell me what was wrong with it until he opened it up (for the additional $220, of course). He then suggested it may be the display panel (which appears to be working fine) and if that’s the case, it would cost me the $220 labour charge plus an additional $250 for the part. Keep in mind that throughout this “diagnosis” I was paying $80 plus tax for, he NEVER touched the dryer. Not one finger. So essentially, I paid $80 plus tax for him to stand in my basement in front of the dryer for less than 5 minutes and quote me a higher price to actually diagnose the problem. So here is your warning – this is the “service” QuickFix is selling so be forewarned.
