I have hired Clear Ottawa Clear Windows for years to clean our heritage windows on the front of our house. They always have: a) arrived on time, b) respected my concerns to treat my 100+ year old windows with extra care and c) bring to my attention any deterioration in the condition of the windows that they notice while cleaning them.

Each Spring for many years I have used Clear Ottawa Widows to clean our three very large heritage windows on the front of our house (two stories). They arrived on time and took extra care cleaning these large single pane windows. They were also very careful when crossing our small perennial garden to access the windows. I would recommend them to family and friends.

We can highly recommend Nick and his crew at Integrity Masonry for several reasons: 1) they are great to work with because they kept us informed. Nick sent me daily emails early each morning to update me as the work progressed. If the work was going to be shut down due to weather, I was informed immediately by Nick or one of his crew. I also liked the fact that Nick visited our work site most mornings and ensured that if I had any questions, they were answered, 2) they persevered to solve difficult problems. The restoration of the brickwork at our 100+ year old house required the difficult task of setting up scaffolding two stories high in a 36 inch wide alleyway between our house and that of our neighbours. Despite taking more days and more scaffolding materials than expected, there was never any doubt spoken that they would not succeed, 3) despite the additional time and materials used, the final cost was the price on the original estimate and 4) finally, the quality of the workmanship fulfilled all of the requirements specified in the original quote.

This is the fourth time that I have hired Cornerstone Brickworks to work on my 100 yr old+ house in Lowertown. As usual, they were on time to set up to start the work and diligently completed the work. Because the work for the replacement of a second storey window sill had to dry out before applying the caulking to seal the window frame to the window sill, the mason came back the next day to finish off the job and to take down the scaffolding. He also did a final clean-up that was greatly appreciated. For this job and previous ones, I find the masons and their helpers to be careful of my property (e.g. gardens) and willing to answer any questions about their "work while in progress". Without hesitation, I would recommend them highly to my friends and family.

I have always had a good experience with Faucet Fix. This job included repairing a toilet, sink plug mechanism and reinstalling the wall hung sink. My sink had sank down on one side and was no longer level. I had two other contractors look at it, but they could not fix it. Also, the sink plug no longer closed properly and could not be easily fixed because the mechanism was covered by a porcelin cowl under the sink. Finally, the low flow toilet had developed a noise when the tank refilled. I had been reluctant to call in another plumber to level the sink, but my wife wanted it fixed so I called Faucet Fix. The appointment was scheduled within a day or two of my call and the first plumber took care of levelling the sink, fixing the malfunctioning plug and replaced the float mechanism in the toilet tank. In addition, the plumber noticed that the water shut off valve to the toilet no longer closed completely, so we had it replaced. We were very pleased with the service. Unfortunately, the the toilet started to drip ever so slightly. I called Faucet Fix and another plumber came out the next day and adjusted the level of of the water level in the tank. It seemed to work, but being an intermittent problem, we noticed that it started again. The next working day Curtis, the company owner came out to my house and replaced the faulty part himself and the problem was fixed. Now that is service! Like most people, we are always pleased when a problem is taken care of well the first time. But the best measure of a quality service is when "things go wrong". It is then you see the true quality of the service provided by a company. Faucit Fix offers a high quality service.

This is the second time that we have hired Cornerstone Brickworks. The first time was to rebuild a chimney and they did an excellent job. This time was to reset a stone windowsill in our 100 yr+ house so that the water would run away from the wood window casement and to re-point stones under our rear porch. Like before, their quote was very affordable. The masons were friendly, efficient and did a great a great job. They also took care not to disturb the shrubs under the window being repaired. At the end of the day, the work-site was left clean and we were very pleased with the workmanship. We will definitely hire them again.

My house is heated by a boiler/radiator system and I do not have any other source of heat (e.g. fireplace) to heat my home during an extended power failure. Given that a family member living in downtown Toronto was stranded without power for 6 days and had to finally abandon her house when temperatures dropped to -14C, it was time for me to look at options to power my house during an extended power failure. I contacted Ring Electric for a quote to install a natural gas "Generac" generator. Bryan Verhulp, the owner of Ring Electric returned my call the same day and then visited my house in order to prepare an estimate. Given that my house has small yards, Bryan explained to me that there was not sufficient space to meet the distance requirements for clearances between the "Generac" generator and items such as my windows, wood porches, property lines, etc. Bryan then helped me to look at alternatives that could power the essential circuits (i.e. heating system, fridge, gas cooktop hood vent) in my house. In the end, Bryan recommended the installation of a transfer switch panel that would be powered by a lightweight portable 2000 watts gasoline generator that would sit on my back porch and be plugged into the transfer switch panel via an exterior inlet plug. To use this system during a power failure, all I have to do is place the generator on my rear porch, start it up and then plug it into the exterior inlet plug that is wired to the transfer swiitch panel. Next, I just have to go to my basement and switch over the power source from Ontario Hydro to my gas generator via the transfer switch panel. This is a great solution for my needs and is easy to use! I found Bryan and his staff of electricians who installed the transfer switch panel and wiring to be very helpful and to provide excellent serivce in a friendly and professional manner. They even wore "booties" over their shoes to protect my floors. I highly recommend Ring Electric to anyone who requires electrical work done in their house. I give them A+ rating!
