Our furnace blower quit working on New Year's eve on a mid afternoon -30c day. We had phoned both hydro and Reliance Superior. Because it was cold, Reliance would not be out until that night and did show up at approx. 9:00 pm. In the meantime, hydro came out, told us we needed servicing and did discover a minor gas leak on one of the supply pipe fittings. It needed fixing in the near future but wasn't serous enough to shut the gas off. Reliance's technician showed up and we mentioned the blower wasn't working and the gas leak needed fixing. He could see the furnace was 25 years old ( which I knew as the original owner of the house ) and didn't feel it was worth spending a good chunk of cash to fix both items. He then took the next half hour, on New Year's eve no less, to explain different furnace types, ball park costs plus answer all our questions. He arranged for a salesman to come out and give us options and quotes.Gavin came out the next morning.( New Year's Day) He went through all the furnace type options and costs for both Lennox and Rheem furnaces. He didn't pressure us and we took the afternoon to do some research on the internet regarding furnaces, costs and his company Reliance Superior( including reviews on this site.) We made the decision to go with a Rheem modulating furnace and installers were booked for the following day. Total installation including removal of the old furnace took about 4 1/2 hours PROS : Quick prompt service from the trouble shooting tech, salesman and installers. Very informative, knowledgeable, professional and easy to talk to all of them. Cleaned up the work areas adequately CONS: The installers did not reseal or put back the inside insulation when installing the new plastic pipes to the outside of the house. I could actually see daylight around the entire circumference of both pipes and this on a -30c day. I had to buy foam to seal the openings, reinstall the fiberglass insulation and re-staple the vapor barrier back in place. Also I felt the wiring could have looked a little cleaner on the furnace installation but this was my own picky preference. Left a message for the salesman after the installers left but never got a call back. Overall I am satisfied and would recommend Reliance Superior but the above issues affected my star rating
