Warning DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH Modern Home Exteriors/Interiors Ltd. Alias PRESIDENT EDWARD PARKER Re re roofing and Gutter We have just finish a re roofing with this company – after several calls to the company the owner he arrived a Saturday afternoon (June29) 40 min delay). He did’t even take a tour on the roof - he just told us the roof has to be changed. Inside the house we had a lots of questions but he was very rude and interrupt us and also his assistant Stella was interrupt all the time as he keep saying “I have been doing this for 27 years, so I knew what I am doing” Since he promises to finish the work quickly we agree to sign the handwritten and not readable contract. We told Mr. Parker that we do like to see 1: REAL readable contract – 2: Invoice (readable) to indicate what we are paying for 3: Timeline for work schedule. 4: Payment when job was done. Nothing of the above things ever happens – just wonder if this normal. We ask many times for these things to be done. Suddenly several people walk on your roof am without any notice and same things for everytime new people coming. We were happy people come quickly to do the job, but ask in several mails if we could have some notice before next event – we have given up emails and several phone numbers. 1: We never got a printing contract – is this normal here in Calgary that customers do not see what they are supposed to be done? 2: We ask many times to see a invoice so we can do the payment – whatever you buy here you always get a invoice so you can see what you are paying for - is was also a new things for this company. 3: Schedule for work in our house newer come even Mr. Parker/Stella got all cell phone-e mails. 4: Mr. Parker and her assistant came 3 times to our home and demand payment even the job was not finish – First time Saturday (July6) afternoon – call first are you home in the next 10 minutes. They show up again 40 minutes later. We were asking about 10 % rebate since the flyer we had got via our mailbox said we are entitled to rebate “Mr. Parker tear out the 10% slip in front of all of us and said to Stella why she has’t taken these slip out and told us we already got the rebate the week before on the contract – if that the case why did Mr. Parker not telling us that the price was org $8602 and with rebate now $7820.? We keep telling Mr. Parker that we will pay when all work has been done – he keep telling us he has to pay workers (sub contractors) – to get them out of the house we paid $6580 and told them again the rest $1240 when the rest of the job was finish. Monday (July 8) after the Gutter job was done in less than 4 hours and next day Tuesday evening Mr. Parker show up and again and demand money. This time we did want him and Stella inside – told them again when the last small things has be done we will pay the rest. Next day Wednesday (the only day nobody was here) we were told on email (first time) that a guy will show up. It turn out that he was not inform what to do so still work not finish. After several emails to Mr.Parker “The crack I am talking about and showed you on the first day is on the south east corner of the house between chimney and the house, under the roof, not on the roof. I don't know what he did, but the crack is still there, not fixed. Please inform him the crack location and have it fixed ASAP, so we don't have to delay the payment. I want to have it done. Friday July12 noon Mr. Parker and Stella suddenly show up – I told them that nobody has been here and finish the job. Late afternoon the guy show up and fix the crack. We had told Mr.. Parker we will come to his showroom Saturday July 13 and do the rest payment $1240. Surprised again Friday evening Mr. Parker and Stella show up again and demand money again – even we told them that we will come to their showroom next day they were very desperate to get the money. We did pay the rest and hopefully we will never see these people or have anything to do with Mr.. Edward (Ted) Parker ever again. We are surprised if he can do business like this – keep going to people privacy and demand money and not given invoice and a contract we as a customer can read. Finally: Did the workers do a good job? We had expect some expert (Mr. E. Parker?) will come and take a tour on what had been done. We are not roof expert so how can we desire if the job was done in correct way? Ex when Mr. E. Parker told us that one of the contractor (David) “David informs all is well and you are both happy with the work. One was NOT here when roof was finish at 11 am and Jorgen told David just before he and he’s team was leaving that the job was finish surpricely quick – we cannot quality the work. We cannot recommend this company do to lack of communication and the owners attitude and not to forget Mr. E. Parker seem to work way behind the year 2013 where everybody use PC. What we did learn (even a big learning money) Next time we have to involved big work in/out door we have to do a better research via review and company web sites etc.

Hi Mr. Plum,
Last year we were invited into your home to provide you and your co-owner with an estimate to replace your roofing shingles, accessories, gutters and downspouts. To my recollection, your first service request was for loose, hanging and otherwise unsightly soffits/facias to the south east corner of your home. I personally repaired these issues you raised at *no charge* during my initial estimate/visit. We also did additional flashing to your roofing at *no charge*. At this point we entered into a contractual agreement to do the work mentioned above.
You and your co-owner insisted that this work be completed in an urgent manner. We complied with this request as the weather was variable.
After the initial roofing job was completed, as is typical, we asked for a partial progress payment. You asked me for a computer generated and printed invoice. Unfortunately, like many contractors, I don’t have a full mobile office in my vehicle - besides emails. I mentioned our contract where it states that each installer should be paid in full upon completion - which you then refused to do. You co-owner was diligent in providing the payment however and a paper invoice was provided.
Regardless, we proceeded to replace your gutters and downspouts in a prompt manner. Your co-owner again paid us in full. As per usual, I endorse my materials with lifetime product warranties and 10 year labour warranty. I have received no complaints from you based on the materials or labour of the work completed. If you have any, please let me know.
Further, I would like to stress that Mr. Plum has not paid us one dollar for our services but his co-owner was HAPPY to pay for our work in full.
Its seems that Mr. Plum’s only complaint is that we don’t operate a full office out of our vehicles.------------------
