In late Fall 2023 we decided to do our long-awaited home renovation. Our home was built in the early 90s and required a complete interior makeover. We checked out many contractor reviews and came across J. Murphys Contracting Inc., an established and reputable Maple Ridge company that appeared to meet our needs for the project. We contacted James and found him to very friendly and helpful, answering our many questions. We asked James for a quote along with a number of other contractors. James quote was the best by far and so we accepted it and hired him to do the job. James provided us with a written contract and detailed quote covering all the work and cost as well as clear terms for extras. The work was divided up into milestones with payment to be made after completion of each milestone. We ended up doing many extras, some very significant. All of the work, including the extras, was done in accordance with this paperwork. We are very pleased with this aspect of the job. We found James to be very responsive to questions and any concerns that we had. In most cases we received a response the same day. The work started April 1, 2024, with an estimated timeline for us to return to our home in early July. The work progressed in accordance with this timeline even though we added many extras including some very significant ones. There were some things to finish up after our return to our home which were largely taken care of in July. In view of our very good experience with James and his team inside our home, we decided to completely redo the outside of our home as well, which was completed by early September. We are very pleased with the timeline for all the work that James and his team did for us. We are very pleased with James team including his qualified and certified subcontractors and staff. We must single out for special mention his site manager, Joe, who we worked with the most. Joe is a highly experienced and exceptional tradesperson and site manager who was a pleasure to work with, really helped us make good decisions about extras and who worked tirelessly to ensure that we were happy with everything that was done. We are very happy with quality of the materials used for the job and the workmanship of James and his team. We attach some before and after pictures of the kitchen. We ended up doing a lot more and spending considerably more than initially planned for our renovation project, but we do not regret these decisions and feel that we received very good value from James and this team. We are very happy with James and his team and strongly recommend them for your home renovation project.
