We ordered 9 new awning-style windows for our home and a new exterior door, plus an additional 3 windows for installation in our daughter's home. We chose Loyal Seal because they were a recommended installer for WindowCity-manufactured windows -- we had three other windows of that make installed a few years ago and have been very happy with them. (Previous company that installed for us was not available this time around.) Loyal Seal salesman was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Once we placed the order, it took a couple of weeks before someone came out to measure at our house. Had an issue with measuring at our daughter's home as someone just showed up unannounced since he was "in the neighbourhood" (they were supposed to call first) and the fellow became upset that she would not let him in (she was not comfortable as she was alone, not fully dressed, and dog was going nuts). Took another couple of weeks before she finally got an appointment for measurements; now waiting for her installation. We had windows and door installed at our home over two days a week ago and installers did a great job, nicely finished. Next day, however, we noticed on one window that weatherstripping gasket along the entire top had come away and drooped across the window. And on the same window, the right side would no longer latch as the window was not closing fully on that side. Loyal Seal rep came out a few days later and adjusted the window so the latch now closes, but will have to order a new window because of the gasket issue (he had suggested cutting the drooping gasket and just putting in caulking, a solution that we found unacceptable on a brand-new window). Also had another issue that could possibly be avoided with better communication: We had custom blinds set inside the casings on all our windows. The window installation required replacement of the casings, i.e. brick-to-brick (still not exactly sure why, since this was not required for the previous windows we had replaced a few years ago) and when we went to reinstall our blinds we discovered to our horror that none of them fit as the new casings were narrower by about 1/8 - 1/4"! The installer was also the guy who had done the measuring so obviously could see that we had fitted blinds. It would have been helpful to have a discussion at that point about the fit of the blinds -- one would think the casings could have been adjusted at the time of installation to ensure they would be the right size for reinstallation of the blinds. Too late now so we are in the position of trying to cut down the blinds ourselves (unable to get this done where we bought them; we tried) or spend several hundred dollars on all new blinds. Not happy.

Dear Nancy,
We are sorry to hear that you were experiencing problems with reinstalling your blinds, however to avoid these issues it is clearly stated on the front page of our contract that removal and reinstallation of all window covering is the responsibility of the customer. Thank you.
