Bought a house with a fireplace that was not up to code. My insurer made a fuss, as the hearth did not have enough depth due to the distance it was below the firebox. As the hearth is marble, it was cost prohibitive to replace with a larger piece. The only other option was to raise the hearth by 6". My biggest concern going into this job was that the rock would break. But Rob was patient and meticulous with prying it off the subfloor that it had been firmly glued to. He then built a supporting frame and reinstalled the marble, but also amended some of the wood accents to blend it into the existing design. The work too a little longer than I expected, but with a flat rate of $600 plus material, this made little difference to me. Besides, the marble is still in one piece so that supercedes all else. I feel like I got great value for the work that was done and will be calling Rob back when I have a future construction need.
