Once again I received an excellent service by Peter from Modern Appliance. He worked on my old gas oven, and now I can carry on without replacing it. He always deliveries great service, has reasonable pricing, and he is punctual and flexible to accommodate your schedule. As a free bonus, he also checked my washer/dryer and gave me some good tips on their maintenance. I highly recommend Peter for all your appliances needs and repairs.

We just made our first purchase from Caplan's Appliances and we were very pleased with excellent service and competitive pricing. Their consultant Matt Hebert was very professional in sending us prompt e-mail quote (on a Labour Day Monday), and next day we completed the purchase of Bosch washer/dryer combo in store with Matt. As promised, the delivery took place following Saturday morning, and Cody and his team (Trevor & Paul I believe) did a great job removing our old appliances, setting up the new ones, as well as testing both washer and dryer. We highly recommend the Caplan's Appliances family store over large chain stores. Excellent customer service, friendly and very knowledgeable staff. Also, their showroom is impressive to visit as well.

We called several top rated companies based on HomeStars reviews, and Victorious Carpet was our final choice. They are #1 for a good reason. Mark was prompt when he came for an estimate, helped with the carpet selection, provided expert advice, had very good pricing and accommodated our Saturday installation request. The installers came on time and by 4pm it was all done - very detailed, professional and spotless installation work. Mark also showed up during the installation day, just to check if all was going well. He was also readily available to answer our phone calls. To compare, one of their highly rated competitors cancelled on us 30min before the appointment time for the estimate & measuring (I was late to work waiting for him). So far I have used the Modern Appliance services twice. Back in November 2012, I called Peter about an issue on my older gas range. He correctly diagnosed the issue as an oven igniter and estimated his price over the phone. He was punctual, arrived on time the day he promised and fixed the problem. Since then, no problems with oven. The second time this June 2013, when I had an issue with my washer and thought it was the drain pump. This time Peter explained over the phone what the problem was most likely. And sure enough, it was a very simple issue that I could fix myself. A small air hose that leads to the pressure switch popped-out, all I had to do is connect it back and secure it. Peter saved me a visit and bill for something easily fixable. After discovering a leak in our basement (bungalow built in 1960 with block basement walls), we called 6 top rated companies from the HomeStars site for an estimate. One of them did not show up for the scheduled appointment (and never called back), one gave us their price on a business card and one company pushed for an interior solution. Our short list included 3 companies that were on time for the initial estimate appointment, took their time for an inspection & solution/options presentation, and prepared detailed estimates in writing. All 3 companies provided estimates 20-30 minutes after the inspection and their prices were within a few hundred dollars. Fedor from Aquamaster Drain, Plumbing & Waterproofing was our final choice and it was a good one. The scope included original concrete sidewalk removal, exterior waterproofing and a new concrete sidewalk. His team initially started the work on a 30 ft length, but we had to extend the work along the whole wall of 53 ft due to numerous cracks discovered. Each day there were 2 and sometimes 3 workers (limited work space). They had to use our neighbor’s driveway, but they kept it safe and cleaned it thoroughly after the work was completed. The total project took approximately 7 days (with 2 days down for rain). I liked that they did not rush just to finish the job quickly, but took the time for all the phases to be done properly. They were always on time, professional and courteous. Overall, we had a great experience with this company! I highly recommend Fedor and Aquamaster for any waterproofing work.

I called Derek based on high ratings he received from the HomeStars site. He responded promptly and came that Sunday at 10am (as promised) for an estimate. During his visit, he gave me a very good price for removing two tall trees & stumps from my back yard. On agreed day, he showed up at 8:30am (again, exactly as promised) with a crew of 6 people, 3 trucks and 2 machines. I expected this work to last the whole morning, due to numerous power, telephone and cable TV wires, but these guys were done by 10am, after only 1.5 hrs. It was impressive to watch how professionally and efficiently they worked as a team. They removed all the wood from my backyard and cleaned the area. You have an option to keep the wood or to have them remove it. Great work by Derek's Tree Service – I highly recommend them, 10+ ! They are #1 on HomeStars for a reason.
