Although our home is only ten years old, we had experienced leaking in heavy rainstorms. We decided to replace our roof earlier rather than later knowing that the problem would worsen over time. We used HomeStars to find a reputable roofing company and contacts most of the top rated roofers. Of the ones that called us back, Professional Roofers was the only one that quickly replied and came back with one of the more reasonable estimates. Jorge was the estimator who came to our home. He was extremely knowledgeable and, because I had done my homework before his visit (and more after his visit to corroborate what he told us, I felt comfortable with all of his advice. He recommended closed valleys as opposed to the open valleys that existed on our roof (the valleys has also been the source of our leaks as there was also no ice/water shield underneath before). Once we decided to go ahead with the job, Jorge came back that evening (working around our schedule) and we selected our shingles (IKO Lifetime). Work was to begin just a few weeks later. As scheduled on May 28, the shingles were delivered and Fernando and his team came to work on our roof. And work they did! The weather was incredibly hot and humid and our roof is complex with many peaks and valleys and dormers. Other than some brief breaks for water, they worked none stop from about 8:30am to 7:00pm on the first day. Jorge has said the job would take two days and Fernando and team made sure that it would be finished by the end of the second day. By the later afternoon on day two, the job was complete. The cleanup was very thorough. Since they completed the work I have only found one nail and a few 1 inch square pieces of shingle. We have had some very heavy wind-driven rains since (just the type of weather that caused leaking before) and have had no leaks whatsoever. The 15 Year warranty that Professional Roofers provides also gives us peace of mind for the longer term. We have already recommended HomeStars to some of our friends and neighbours.

Our dryer vents to the outside from the second floor laundry room. The relatively tight holes on the old grate (that prevents birds from flying in) constantly resulted in lint building up. I had to frequently remove the foil hose from the dryer venting that led outside and this resulted in a poor connection and led to lint blowing around the laundry room whenever the dryer was running. I called Samson from Appliance Healer and described the problem. He estimated $100 for the labour (flat rate) plus parts. Samson came, removed the old grate from outside and all the venting inside and replaced it with better quality parts and a grate that won't fill with lint. He also replaced the flimsy foil hose with an aluminum hose. Samson came with his wife, who "accompanies him on all jobs" and went right to work. He clearly knew what needed to be done and had arrived with all the needed parts and tools. He was friendly, honest, and explained everything he was doing. His invoice was for the exact amount quoted and he even presented the reciept for the parts (not that I asked). I would highly recommend Appliance Healer for dryer venting repair or cleaning.

I had a bathroom sink which had become detached from its drain causing leaking whenever the sink was used. I also needed a "toe-tester" in the shower replaced and needed to relocate the hose-bib in the garage. I didn't know of a good plumber and didn't have a reference for a plumber, so I turned to HomeStars. Flavio had an exceptional 9.9 rating, so I decided to give him a try. Flavio came by that very same day. He was professional, personable, and explained what he was doing in layman terms so it was easy to understand. He also made some recommendations around relocating the hose-bib so I could save money. I now have a good plumber and will be calling on Flavio for all my future plumbing needs.

Our oven hadn't been heating properly. I called Joe, he came out the next day, diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts, and came in a few days leter to make the repair. I was very impressed by Joe's knowledge and willingness to explain in clear terms what the problem was and what options were available. I hope not to have appliance trouble again, but if I do, I'll call Joe the Appliance Guy without hesitation.
