I dealt with Alex Joyce at booking. He was surprisingly flexible. Quote was fast. He broke down the estimate for 3 work items I requested. In the end, he didn't even ask for a deposit and said I could adjust scope as we go, so I could save some money. As is the case generally, I ended up doing and paying for pretty much everything I planned, but the projected flexibility really took the stress out of it. Any reno or home improvement is stressful, and it's rare to feel great after dealing with any contractor. As the work progressed, Alex came to the site to confirm everything's ok. I'm very pleased with his level of service and flexibility. The actual painter was good and professional. He did a good job. I'm a demanding customer with high standards, and I did have to make a couple of pointers. He adjusted quickly and the final result met my standards. I will definitely be using Encore again. Keep up the good work. Remain vigilant about delivering good service, keep your standards high, and hold on to good people.

I paid for a site visit to assess a load bearing wall removal. What I liked: The engineer arrived on time. We spent over an hour talking about different parts of the house. I had lots of follow-up questions, and altogether he spent over an hour on the phone with me on more than one occasion. He answered all my questions. Because of our detailed discussions, the 2-page report contained all the details I needed. In the end, I feel I got good value for my money. What can be improved: I've never hired an engineer before. I was expecting the inspection to be more thorough. I hired them to confirm things 100%, but unless the ceiling beams are exposed or someone climbed into the attic, he could only guess. I was informed only at the visit that engineers typically don't go into attics. The process should have been clarified at booking, so me and the engineer could make the most of it. In my case, the structure later turned out to be very different than what we expected. I was lucky to have an experienced contractor in my home later to climb in the attic and provide concrete solutions. The final solution I received from my contractor was more practical. I wished the engineer provided the ultimate solution. That said, the engineer was available at the office to receive my updates, and I am very satisfied with the service and the final report and approval of the plan. He consistently came across as friendly and helpful on the phone.

Yair came to our house, then later met us on a weekend and spent over an hour with us finalizing the design. Great personality, no rushing, just very nice experience. We felt very good after that meeting, and that's rare when you're dropping this kind of money on a small closet (5 solid wood, dovetailed draweres, glass doors with hangers and shelves, about 5 feet wide, full height). The installer came on time and his workmanship was very good. The caulk is neat, the shelves are tight. And the design is very well done, both the unit itself and how it sits in the wall. People comment when they see it. They did install glass instead of mirror as agreed, and that took a long time to get reordered, but given how nice the result is and how great Yair is to deal with, I didn't mind the wait too much. Things always happen. It's how you deal with a problem that matters. Keep up the good work.

Great guys with a sense of humour. Price was very reasonable. Owner was very communicative. He spent a good while on the phone with me answering questions before booking. On the day, he and his men showed on time. Another of his crew unloaded us later. Email response was prompt. They took pride in moving quickly. We paid for 3 movers to load and 2 movers after - his idea, which worked well. Moved 3 bedrooms to bungalow in 5-6 hours with a couple of breaks. Tips: remind them to bring enough tape; be anal about stuff you want protected.
