The team at Clarke Basement Systems is top notch. While renovating the basement in my 98 year old home, I discovered I had water problem. Cracks in my foundation were leading to small amounts of flooding and some serious mold/moisture damage. I was anxious about waterproofing at first because I didn't understand how confident I could be that the problem would get solved after what can be a significant investment. The inspector who came and quoted on the work spent nearly 2 hours walking me through all of the details of the project and was incredibly thorough in developing a solution for my basement that I could be confident in. The team that worked on the project directly (only took 2 days) was very professional and respectful of my property. The admin folks back at the office were very helpful when it came to scheduling work and processing my payment/warranty. Would 100% recommend Clarke Basement Systems to anyone with water problems in their basement and would encourage people to consider this as a worthwhile investment to anyone renovating and old basement. I should add that while the project is expensive (~9000 for a 800 linear foot room) I was eligible for a $1400 rebate through the City of Toronto 's basement flooding program and it was Clarke Basement Systems that provided me with the heads up on the cost savings. Further the basement waterproofing came with a 25 year warranty that is transferable with the property!

Had SSI install two deadbolts on a separate entrance for me after I completed a basement reno this spring. I chose SSI because I had them in just over a year ago to change the locks for me after I bought a new house. They were quick to get back to me after I placed a call to their office, but after several telephone conversations they failed to meet all the specs of the job I laid out of them in the first place. First, they brought the wrong entry/passage hardware (which I ended up doing myself after the fact) but more importantly they told me they couldn't match the keys on the new basement door deadbolts to the other exterior doors on my house because they weren't the right brand -- this after I told them over the phone what brand of lock I had over the phone. I'm frustrated by this because I purposely sought them out because of the work they did just a year ago, knowing full well that had I gone with a different locksmith I may have run into this issue. To add insult to injury, when the locksmith finished the stripped down work order (a deadbolt on the two basement doors) he charged me a $25 fee to re-key one of the deadbolts so it matched the other one he just installed. He also never offered to clean up the mess he left behind (just saw dust and wood chips .. but inconsiderate just the same). After this experience I likely would look for a different locksmith for my next project.
