Here is a copy of an e-mail I sent Dr Green yesterday. They have had a full business day to respond, and although I asked them - again - not to call, I would have expected at least some kind of e-mail response. So far, nothing: Dear Dr Green, Have you ever paid for something, and ended up feeling like you received nothing, nothing at all for your money? Such is my experience with Dr Green. We used your services for two years, and watched as our lawn went from bad to worse. When I called to cancel your services, I was asked why I wanted to cancel. A reasonable question, and I supplied a reasonable answer: I was unhappy with the service provided. Our lawn was actually worse than it had ever been. The young lady I was talking to suggested that if I had been unhappy with your service, then it was up to me to call and complain. I objected to that approach at the time and still do. I would expect that a lawn care company would not need me to tell them when a lawn is not responding to the treatment provided. If it's your job to create and/or maintain a lush, green lawn and the methods you're using aren't accomplishing that, then perhaps someone at the lawn care company should stop and say to themselves "Hmmm.. this isn't working. What else can we try? Maybe we should call the owner and talk to them." But you didn't do that. No, you waited until I told you I no longer wanted to pay for your services, and THEN the calls started coming. And coming. And coming. I received five or six calls asking me why I had cancelled and offering me free services if I would only sign up with you again. I kept telling the callers the same story and asking politely that they do not call again. The last time I was called by Dr Green I told the poor woman in no uncertain terms that I never wanted to hear from your company again. In retrospect, you're probably right. I should have called, complained like hell, made damn sure I got my money's worth and THEN cancelled. Who wants to do business like that? And yet today I receive a very nice card from you in the mail. Nice graphics. Really. Very slick. And the sincere-looking typeface telling me that "No matter why you left us, we would like to make it right." And offering the same 'free' services (provided I sign up for a full year) that were offered me when I first cancelled. And inside,in very small and oh-so-sincere type "thinking of you..." Nicely done. Almost gives me the warm'n'fuzzies. Two things this card tells me: 1) You're not sincere at all. If you had wanted to "make it right" someone would have come to my property, surveyed the badly-maintained lawn and offered me my two years' money back for services not performed. 2) You must have a lot of ex-customers feeling the way I do, or you wouldn't have spent the money on designing and mailing this card. So - here I sit, reminded again by Dr Green about how I got ripped off by Dr Green. Now go away. DO NOT CALL. Delete whatever information you have on file regarding my property. I do intend to spread the word, though. Regards, etc.
