Unknowingly recruited this company in 2010 for a move from Toronto to Saskatchewan. Should have realized the potential for disaster when the movers arrived 4 hours late to pick up the contents of my apartment. The agreed arrangment was that my "stuff" would be held in storage for one month in Toronto as I had not yet found a place to live in SK. About one week after picking up my possesions, I started receiving phone calls demanding payment in full for the move and threats that my possessions would be auctioned off if I did not comply. Consequently, I sent payment (against my better judgement) so now they had my possessions as well as my money. When I provided them with my new forwarding address and requested a delivery date, they were vague and said they would contact me. After receiving no updates, I continued to contact them to demand a delivery date. The office staff were apathetic, rude and condescending. After a few frustrating calls to this company, I went to the local police and filed a police report as well as contacting the Toronto police. Both police depts reacted, but it was the local detachment that contacted the company to let them know that this was quickly becoming a criminal matter. Miraculously, I had my possessions about a week later (I phoned the company every day for updates). It ended up costing me $2800. to move the contents of a bachelor apartment...I should have taken legal action but did not. Life lesson=do not go anywhere near ripoff companies like CanAmerican Van Line. They are unethical, provide false information and are scam artists. AND when my stuff did arrive, I was lucky enough to get more than just my possessions...I also ended up with mice from their storage and/or truck!
