Hi Tim,
First we needed to address your attics ventilation issue. This was a typical situation, blocked soffits, and more importantly lack of attic ventilation. Since your roof is a Hip roof there was limited space for the current static vents as they need to be located at the top of the attic space. We changed this to the Maximum ventilation system. The 2 Max vents are equivalent to about 8 static vents (you currently had 4 of these) thus giving you twice the exhaust. This was causing the plywood to buckle due to over heating and the shingles to prematurely deteriorate.
After the replacement of numerous sheets of plywood, wrapping the roof with the proper underlayments and even gutting/replacing all the flashings and wrapping ice and water shield up the walls, you will be perfect for the worst winters to come.
