We hired Silva taping and drywall to skim coat our textured walls and ceilings in our entire (!) basement. We also had to have a few walls framed out to separate rooms and then have those drywalled. The final result was 10/10. I'm shocked at how smooth the walls are now. They look amazing. There are a few hiccups along the way, the job took a bit longer than expected but not a big deal as we weren't in a crazy hurry. Luckily my husband worked from home because they did come and go sometimes, would be there for the morning and then leave for the day or there for the afternoon only etc... so it might have taken a bit more effort to coordinate being home at the same time as them if that's your situation. I think my only negative was I wasn't 100% happy with the framing (and if I were to do it again I would probably just hire a framer.) BUT it ended up being fine and Romildo worked with me on it when I talked to him about things! There was a bit of a mess leftover at the end of the job. Gobs of drywall compound everywhere that we had to scrape off the concrete floor. I think because it was a basement space with an unfinished floor, it was treated a bit differently than if it had been in a finished area of the home, which is fine. Just took some time to clean the workspace up after. Garbage left that we took to the dump etc. I've never done a renovation, so I'm not sure what the norm is, as to what you're left with! The price for the entire job was very good also, very competitive. They definitely know what they're doing when it comes to drywall, mudding, taping, skim coating!! EXCELLENT finished result. See my pics. A huge plus also, was that there was very minimal dust even though basically entire basement was skim coated and sanded! Which was crazy and I was very pleased with that as well. I was expecting a big mess! They have all the professional equipment to do the job properly! If you have ugly texture on your walls they will fix it! I still can't believe how much better everything looks with smooth walls. It's amazing. Highly recommend getting it done if that's your situation. Also Romildo's "tile guy" that he suggested we use for our tub surround did an amazing job on the tiling as well! I was a bit nervous because you don't know! But it turned out really great also. Romildo was always very responsive and any issues I had were addressed right away. He and his son were very nice and did a great job. Would hire them again for anything drywall related! Very happy with our basement. It looks 100x better thanks to their hard work!
