You'll want to read this!
I recently had my ducts cleaned and they suggested that I call someone for furnace maintenance. So I called a heating and cooling services company I found on HomeStars who had 10 stars (no name, sorry). He came and "cleaned" the furnace (FYI, furnace is 14 yrs old but totally operational before his visit). He talked a lot of furnace jargon about what he was doing as he was doing it, as if to protect himself from any future accusations. He said we needed a new circuit breaker, even though I just needed it cleaned. Low and behold he left and the furnace no longer worked. I called him and he said there was nothing he could do and we just had to replace the part - tomorrow. So no heat with a 3 month old in the house. The part was $500 + labour + HST. So of course I wanted a second opinion. I called COZY WORLD INC and FRED was the man who took my call. I explained the situation and he said it would be $80 to come and check it out. I was nervous about him telling me the same thing as the first guy, and then it would have cost me an extra $80, but instead, FRED fixed EVERYTHING that the first guy, a) failed to do, and b) screwed up! What was going to cost me $700+ ended up only costing me $80+HST! First guy's mistake was he plugged back in the blower power backwards (he also did not clean the hose and the flame sensor, which are the most important parts to clean when you have a service, FRED taught me!). So the circuit board was not getting enough power since he plugged it in wrong. His solution was to jump the power which would keep some fan running the entire time instead of trying to figure out what happened. I guess thats why he told me that the motor would have to be replaced eventually too. I know this review sounds like a bad one for another company, but I know nothing about furnaces and the only reason I know what the first guy did wrong, was because FRED explained everything to me in plain english. Super honest, super simple, super down-to-earth. He came over immediately after I called, he cleaned the parts the first guy missed, he fixed his mistakes and he only charged me the consultation price. That is what I consider exceptional customer service. If you want a competent, efficient and super trustworthy furnace expert, call FRED. I promise, you will be really pleased that you did. PS - I also loved that he took his shoes on and off whenever he was walking around my house. Thank you so much FRED. You'll be hearing from us again.
