It's been a couple of years since I had Darby and his team waterproof my basement which was leaking. I've waited 2 years before submitting a review just to ensure that there were no more leaks. I can attest to the fact that my basement is dry (after many big storms this spring and fall). Darby did a great job explain what he was going to do. His team arrived on time each day and cleaned up the site each day before leaving (as best as they can for the type of work they are doing). His staff were very polite throughout the job and they worked through some tough conditions (started snowing, high winds and cold temperatures). They cleaned everything up when they finished. HIs team even returned late in the spring the next year to add in fill after it settled in early spring as Darby said they would . Great job and highly recommended.

I had called a number of the caulking companies that had good ratings here on Homestars to recaulk my entire solarium. It is crucial to get it done properly as the entire roof is glass and the caulking is all that prevents leaking into my house. Only a couple of the companies returned my call. Rimas of Vanguard was the only company that came to my house to look at the work to be done. He gave me a quote on the spot and said it could be done within 2 weeks. This is quite different than the other company who also has lots of high ratings on Homestar-he had me go measure all the solarium windows as he was too busy to come over to look at the job. This other company did give me a quote after I gave them my measurements. Initially I was interested in going with this other company due his high ratings but when I asked if he had comprehensive insurance and WCIB insurance for the workers (as they were going to be working on top of large panes of glass and I did not want the liability if something happened on my property), he would not return any of my calls even after I left 4 messages. Vanguard had no problems confirming they had both types of insurance. I am glad I went with Rimas of Vanguard. He and his assistant showed up early on the day that was scheduled, removed all old caulking and cleaned the glass and relaided a nice clean bead of industrial caulking around all panes of glass. This was not easy to do as they had to be careful working on a glass roof. Also, he did not skimp on the caulking as he laid a large even bead which will provide a better long term seal given the added surface contact area. He completed on time and cleaned up everything. At the end, he provided a written warranty (the other company said they don't provide written warranties and that all their customers just trusted them). Thanks for a great professional job Rimas.
