Kitchen load bearing wall removal

I had a video call with Alex from Aldo Structural Contracting before actually starting the job.
Alex presented us with two alternatives, based on the pictures, videos and home plan drawings.
He also had a third solution in case the finished basement had some hidden surprises for us.
He qualified my own solution which was a compromise that in the end turned out to be a non starter.
Once the project passed the approval phase, Alex and his team moved impressively quickly and with high precision.
They planned ahead their work, then positioned tools, materials, including long LVL beams, and people to cope with the small space (as this was a reno, appliances, furniture and other obstacles were in the way).
Alex applied engineering methods to measuring, dimensioning, cutting, building structures and so on, while explaining to me the reason behind his decisions.
As an engineer myself, I can only highly appreciate the logic and reasoning in a hands on situation as no two renovations are the same.
Alex minimized the removal of carpentry, tiles, drywall to make room for the new supporting beam installation and also cleaned up the space after.
The job concluded in one long day, keeping a promise made by Alex when he described the scope of work.
Alex made sure the next team was provided with temporary plywood covers, all required screws were planted, the framing was complete for the remaining wall, so drywall will follow easily after and also offered to re-position the range hood exhaust higher.
I am very pleased with the work done by Aldo Structural and confident the reno will continue on without issues.

Best Customer Service Ever / I-Beam & Lintel Installation

This was possibly the best customer service I have EVER experienced from an independent business operator.

And when it came to his work, Alex took so much pride in the execution, he treated my house like his very own. The job was for an I-Beam & Lintel installation.

Everything was photo-documented with daily updates and everyone from the neighbors to my father found Alex extremely likable and engaging.

Thank you Alex and all the best.

2 LVL Beams on 2nd floor, 1 LVL in basement with 2 posts with footings

Alex is a problem solver by nature. Where others (previous contractors) point out problems to a project to scare a home owner or justify their outrageous quote. Alex points out clear solutions with a defined timeline. My project was very challenging due to the location on a main road in uptown Toronto. Alex met with me at least 7 times answered all my questions and concerns before he even knew he would get the job. The execution of the project was done with pinpoint precision. Alex and his team at Aldo Structural work quickly and efficiently. It was a pleasure to watch them do their magic!

Load bearing wall removal

I wanted an open concept kitchen and had to remove the load bearing wall between existing kitchen and living room. After talking to many contractors I was not able to reach anywhere. I went back to my structural engineer for a trust worthy and reliable contractor. Alex was highly recommended by my structural engineers MEM Engineering Inc, Mississauga
Alex did an excellent job at a very reasonable price and I would recommend ALDO Structural contracting to any one who is looking for reliable and reasonable structural work

Hi Anil,

it was a pleasure working with you and a great satisfaction helping with your project. I loved the pictures you sent me upon full reno completion.
Glad to hear the trustworthy comment, in fact our liability insurance broker never had a claim from us while all our contracts are fulfilled as agreed upfront.
all the best

Central Beam Replacement and Joist Sistering

Communication was excellent from the beginning. Very responsive and upfront. Alex and his team were courteous, professional and went beyond our expectations. When unforeseen issues arose, (old house so it will happen) Alex contacted us right away and discussed our options. The process was painless and although this was a complex job and difficult from an access perspective, Alex and his crew met the timelines they laid out at the beginning. Very pleased with the work and we will be using their services again.

Two day project

Alex and his team from Aldo Structual did a renovation project for my family. From my first encounter with Alex I knew that he was passionate about his craft and very knowledgeable. Alex and his team were efficient, clean and reliable. They left our home clean and their work area was tidied before they left. The time and budget did not change throughout the job. We were very happy with the quality of work and would not hesitate to hire them again.

Structural Changes Residential, commercial, Industrial Etc

As Managing Director of MEM Engineering, we are providing structural drawings for residential and small commercial projects all over GTA, Southern and Central Ontario. Clients often ask us for a reliable contractor to implement these drawings. ALDO Structural easily succeeds to implement the most difficult projects that many other contractors are not even considering to take on. ALDO Structural has always passed city inspections with compliments. They communicate very well with clients, our engineers or city inspectors and they are very ethical. Our clients are always grateful for the introduction to ALDO, which comes with a very fair pricing and transparent contractual process. In fact, clients are saying that their project was completed on time or even sooner than expected, on budget even if small changes had to be made along the way but without increasing the contractual price, and with a superb quality level exceeding in strength. We do no hesitate recommending ALDO Structural for any residential or small commercial structural project."

Good structural framing!

I had a very big Reno which required 4 metal beams, 9 LVL beams, 1 new footing and many posts.
Alex showed up with samples and demonstrated his knowledge about structural framing at my home. I went with Alex because he also tried hard to work within my budget and he still delivered excellent professional results. His crew of 4 put up all of the beams and posts in just 12 days ready for welding! The city inspector and other contractors commented on the professional work done on the beams. I would highly recommend Alex for any structural framing job but I would note one area of improvement - that he communicate directly with the engineer instead of the me (the home owner) about minor adjustments to the original permit approved drawings due to unforseen circumstances when the demolition revealed and presented new unforseen issues. Thank you Alex for the great structural framing work done to our home!

Hi David

Thank you for your feedback. Your project will be a good addition to our portfolio, for marketing purposes. I look forward to seeing the final pictures, of completed renovation.

Regarding the communication channel, as we have explained in the past, the structural engineer was on your payroll and not ours. Nevertheless, we have taken all the phone calls and we have been attended all sites visits (engineer and city inspector's) to discuss together technicalities as needed.

Thank you for your compliments on our work. It is very comforting knowing we easily pass at first strike and with compliments, a city inspection for a project of that high level of complexity.

1 Bedroom Basement Apartment

We've hired Alex and his team in spring, 2017 to build a 1 bedroom apartment in our unfinished basement. Alex was recommended to us by a friend.
Alex is courteous and very knowledgeable. He is very open, knows how much his services are worth and has no plans to overcharge you or to sacrifice quality.
He explained to us in details all the steps of the project, helped us to take the right decisions and stay in the budget.
Once we agreed and signed the contract there was no more discussion about money.
His team finished the job in time and left the work site clean.
Overall I'm very happy with his services and looking forward to hire him again for another project in 2019.
