This was a job to replace a poorly installed LVL beam and to redo the framing for a door into the garage (work I had done by a general contractor and without a permit) and which was improperly done. It can be challenging to find a competent contractor for a small job - and even more so when the task is to re-do a shoddy job.
This is an excellent firm to deal with and I will hire them again if I need structural work done. Holden provided a detailed written estimate - specifying the work that would be performed. The scheduling was timely. He and his team arrived on time and they competently performed the tasks as agreed. The end result was great quality work, that passed the inspections, and has thankfully has eliminated creaking sounds in the house (priceless!). The cost of the job was competitive.
If I need to have structural work done in the future, I will let Holden handle the whole process of applying for the permit, getting the engineers, he works with, to do up the drawings etc. He had suggestions that we might have pursued if the permit hadn't already been approved. I think it would have saved me both time and money to let him deal with the whole thing. One thing that is 100% true, had my general contractor hired Holden and his team to do the work initially, we would not have had creaking in the house, and I would not have had to hire a structural engineer to review the work and then hire someone to re-do the work.
So the message is hire Holden and get a permit!
