Same thing!

We had the same problem with Roof Doctors - asked them to come do some roof repairs in Hamilton - they overcharged us and then tried to extract more money from us - when we protested he was yelling at us on the phone. Would not recommend at all - stay away

At The Roof Doctor we advise of any service charges up front and the customer is always is the one who decides if we go out to there house. We will never send out a truck unless the customer has this clear. Many companies will take a credit card deposit in advance of sending a truck out in an emergency. Im sure any late arriving competitor would suggest there cost would be lower....thats not who we are. Actually most people hire us in the first place because we respond quickly to their emergency. Thats what we are all about SERVICE and proper repairs. Thank you for your comments.

Repair 2 drain pipes that came off the braces.

The Roof Doctor charged me $175 + $245.00 to repair 2 downspouts. I thought they made an error in the amount since the repair did not take longer than 10 minutes. They didn't even replace the braces, they just reattached the same broken ones. When I called the owner to ask if they made a mistake on the amount, he went into a rant and then hung up on me. Not very professional. I was overcharged on sloppy work. I do not recommend The Roof Doctor to anyone!

We were called for repair service to fix 1 downpipe on a 2 storey home. The Roof Doctor responded to the client for same day service. This client was charged as quoted although there is one thing not reported, on arrival to the residence the client came out of the home and asked us to repair the downpipes on the other side of the house as well. He was offered new parts but told us he did not wish to pay for that as the downpipes are still in relatively good condition. There were only 3 screws holding the pipes and straps together so basically in the wind everything fell apart. We simply reused all the parts and we installed all the screws on all the elbows and pipes including the b drop. We did repair the existing straps as well. The gentleman,s partner I believe was not happy with his decision
Our work did save the customer hundreds of dollars to reuse the parts and today are still operating properly with our warranty of good work. If the client still prefers new parts we will be glad to offer that to them at our regular cost. The Roof Doctor will always try hard to please you.

Charged $175 service call and $1,000 for repair. Three days later during next rain there continued to be a leak and owner demanded another service call fee of $175 and would give estimate for new work. Same as previous reviews. Owner prayed on home owners being forced to pay him to repair. WOULD NOT RECCOMMEND.

When the Roof Doctor arrives on site, an estimate is always generated for any repair and discussed with the client. There is no charge for the estimate.
In the case of this client there were multiple roofs that were over 30 years old. There was cement patching, cracks, blisters and parts of the roof had tarping over it. We advised that all the roofs needed to be replaced as soon as possible. There was no warranty left on any of the roofing due to its age. The discussion was held with the client and they informed us with the building and roof history and how they were not able to make the expenditure at this time for new roofs. They asked us to do our best.
We repaired only the spots that the client asked for and those spots are NOT leaking today. We have all the photographs for reference on this matter. Our repairs consisted of caulking and minor metal patching on 4 different roofs. All extensive repairs were declined. Our invoice therefore was only for the minor repairs.
We returned to the property when a revisit was requested. There was no one available to open the gates.
Two weeks later we were called again to the property but we advised the client a service charge for our trip would be charged and that we require a deposit for that portion.
We feel that we worked diligently in an almost impossible situation. We worked hard for this client and tried to act quickly as possible. However, when we take the time to show up at an appointed time and the client is not there to let us in, it is reasonable that they should pay a service fee for our time and efforts.
The Roof Doctor Inc. always answers our calls very quickly and we provide the best service possible.

Roof Repair

A couple of years ago, I asked for quotes for redoing a rather large roof. The Roof Doctor provided me with a quote but I had a couple of others that were less expensive. I foolishly made the choice to go with the less expensive quote. We had no end of problems with our roof and could not get satisfaction from the roofer that had completed it. I wound up calling The Roof Doctor who pointed out all of the defects and substandard workmanship. I engaged him to repair the issues as well as address a few other issues (such as the replacement of a flat roof that we had not had done). Everything that The Roof Doctor did was perfect. I am not a roofer, but I could see the difference in the workmanship. I wish I had hired him from the very beginning. It has taught me that rarely is the least expensive quote the way to go. It has further taught me that as far as roofing goes in the future, I will only use The Roof Doctor.

Repair a small leak in attic roof

When I called they said 175 for service call plus repairs.
When they came one man went to roof the other(owner) came with me to the attic and I should him where leak was. They tried to tell me I needed a new roof I said no just fix it. They fixed it with 2 shingle and a bit of caulking. When he gave me the bill it was $475 for twenty minutes of work for one man and two shingles. He gave me the invoice on a business card.
I tried to reason with the owner but he said it was a professional on the roof and the service call was $175 but the repairs where and additional $250. I would never ever, ever recommend these guys. They are ripoff artists.

$475.00

Company Response

The Roof Doctor Inc. is a emergency service company. We carefully estimate every job, usually with photographs to help understand the nature of the problem. This estimate is discussed with the client before they authorize the repair. This is always the case.
In this case we needed to go into the attic which is not normal to facilitate the repair. The invoice that we gave was for 245. 00 it included going into the attic and repairing on the roof. We replaced 2 shingles and sealed several others. We repaired a number of shingles that were poorly installed by another company.
We believe for all the work and for the great solution and repair, the fee {approved} was reasonable.

Ice dams

What a joke. Worst service provider ever across any industry. They take advantage of you and prices triple when your in a bind. Don't ever use. Would prefer to have water pour through my roof if they were the last option available.

Thanks Jason for your comments. Our company is available 24 hours a day. When there is a roof crisis you can count on us. We provide fast and effective service , often times in the worst of weather conditions. In many cases, I think you know that many other roofing companies would not show up until the weather clears. Once we arrive and inspect the problem, we generate an estimate{ with photographs} This estimate is carefully discussed with our customer and authorized to proceed is required. We are careful to show you the problem and the solution, making sure that your needs are taken care of.

Replace roof shingles

Roofdoctor was called in to replace shingles blown off in a recent storm. They came same day and did a good job, however it was seriously overpriced for only 20 minutes work! Recommended only for emergencies.

Ian, thanks for calling The Roof Doctor Inc.
We have been at this work for many years. Our experience helps us to understand the scope of damage and the time and materials required for a repair. There are many factors including the roof type and size, how steep the slopes are, and the weather conditions. Part of our expense is not only what we do on site but also our insurance and safety training and procedures. {all of which is to protect you the home/building owner}. We must factor our time to get there, time to estimate the problem and strategies a solution that will last, making sure our trucks are stocked with everything to take care of you quickly etc. are all things that must be factored in.
We do show up quickly and offer repair equally quick. The Roof Doctor Inc.does things that most cannot. We are there in the worst of weather and we work on the most dangerous part of your building. However, in spite of all that ...we are there for you and we work quickly and cost- effectively as possible. Above all, our repairs are solid and will last the life of your roof.

Ice Dam

Like the other review, this company came quickly for an ice dam issue after advising that their service runs about $300. The ice dam was small. They climbed on the roof, threw down some salt, loosely laid a heater cable then gave me a bill for about $725.00 for a couple hours of work. I later found that they had put a hole in my siding when they chipped off the ice. They also gave me a story that the whole lower half of my roof needed replacing and they would charge $7500.00.plus an extra $1000 if it was in the winter. This roofing job would only cost $3500.00 with other companies.

Fix Flat Roof Leak (ice dam)

They came when I needed them and they were friendly and polite, but that's about it. They had to come by 3 or 4 times as they had to keep adding ice melter to the roof. This cost me $400. They put in some ice melting cable on the roof for $600. They took advantage of the fact that I was stuck with water coming into my house. So I essentially paid them $1000 for a couple of hours of work and $100 worth of materials.

For ice dam removal, The Roof Doctor Inc. arrives with a truck full of equipment and 2 skilled roofers. A great deal of experience and knowledge is required to do this job correctly and not to incur damages to the building or people. Even the unloading, set up and use of ladders in such adverse weather require skill and attention.
Removing ice from your roof is not a minor thing. We actually in this case made 3 extra visits to be sure the client was cared for. The leak was stopped. Although we normally do not recommend the installation of heating cables in the winter, it really was required on this house in order to stop further damage.
In this case we clearly charged for labour and our materials and believe we did a very good job solving the problem. Our customers continue to tell us that they can count on our fast and friendly service and that our work on their roofs does solve their problems.
