We hired the Deck Guys to build our deck in Richmond Hill - a really big investment for us. The deck turned out beautifully - it is lovely.

1. The process - somewhat challenging, as multiple calls had to be made to check if the project was on schedule. The project was delayed and ended up taking over three weeks to complete, however part of that was due to weather conditions.

2. The product - the deck itself is beautiful. The workmanship is great and it is the best looking deck on the block.

3. The aftermath - the yard was left quite a mess, with chunks of concrete everywhere and the dirt from digging up the ground to put the posts matted on the grass, killing it. The deck has been finished for over a week and the area still not cleaned up. I have a one year old daughter who wants to enjoy the yard with the new deck, however it is not safe. I have been told that clean up will happen, however has not yet - over a week since the deck was finished. This is unfortunate, as the deck is very beautiful - however clean up and maintenance of the home owners yard is an integral part of a professional job.

Overall, I am happy with the final product, however going forward, as a business, I would suggest prompt follow up and leaving the area clean and free of debris - this is the finishing touch and impacts on the overall impression made.

We planned this deck financially for almost ten years. I researched a lot of companies online and every time it came back to thedeckguys. For us this is not just a deck, we back onto a forest and only had a small builder’s deck that came with the house. For us this is a game changer. This is an outdoor living area.

It’s a huge investment for us and I did not want to take a risk of hiring the wrong company, but how can you really tell. This is also a huge deck 22 by 12 foot, and 4 feet off the ground.
Well we hired the right company. Scott, Ryan and the crew have done an incredible job on this deck. The design had to change at the last day to enable a permit from the city. The stairs had to move. Got the new design that night and Scott did an incredible job of placing the stairs with more than enough width and access to the garden. Chat with Scott for 5 mins and you can tell he knows exactly what he’s doing.

Once these guys got started, they moved like lightning and the complete deck was done in 4 days. It was amazing to come from work every day and see so much progress made.
Not only is the deck way beyond our expectations as far as strength is concerned, but aesthetically it’s a stunner. The whole neighborhood is checking it out.

James and all of the deck guys did an outstanding job on our new deck. We had several quotes and picked "THE DECK GUYS". Their attention to detail was excellent. Outstanding job done. The site was always clean and the project was on time. It truly is a beautiful deck. Hats off to James and his crew.

The work we had done was not exactly what we had asked for. Our deck is still not level, instead of using one full run of wood, two pieces were spliced together, which will cause rotting, there are spaces where none should be. When we called to complain, our phone calls were not returned. We were asked by the owner (James) if we were going to stop calling and bugging them. Wrong sides of the wood was left up, so that writing was left in the middle of the spline. Colour matching was not done. All in all, we are very dissatisfied with the workmanship AND customer service, and would not recommend this company to anyone.

This team of professional men, did the absolute best deck for us you could imagine. They were friendly polite, very tidy work space, and you could feel and see the pride of workmanship they had. We were so impressed, we bought them each a gift! 100% recommend this company to everyone!

After months and months of investigation, we decided

we contracted the deck guys to build us a large rear deck with two levels, railings and lights. Even with our high expectations the deck guys managed to exceed them. Thanks to all the guys for their hard work and quality workmanship
