New home built

Our realtor showed us an Alquinn built home during our search for a new home. The Alquinn home stood out as being better quality with nicer finishes and thoughtful details. They were so easy to deal with; from the offer to walk throughs and finally possession, Shannon, Corina and Rachelle were thorough accommodating every step of the way!

Good quality, horrible service

We build our dream family home with Aquinn the fall of 2014. Their sales staff, interior choices personnel etc were great to deal with and we were very happy with the build overall. Our home was done early and is well built. Thankfully we have had only have minor issues though as trying to get their aftercare and service personnel to respond in a timely manner without having to constantly remind them is beyond frustrating!! From our rough grade being a disaster and holding us up for a full season, to repair people being very late for appointments or not showing up at all. Still waiting on our landscape deposit as someone dropped the ball there as well. We ended up dealing with the town and the developer ourselves on many outstanding issues just to get them taken care of. It's sad really as we do love our home and the quality so far seems good. I will have to say Jodi in warranty is about the only person who seems to follow up and get back to us.

Bought a Single Family Home

We bought a single family home in Stony Plain from Alquinn in August 2015. We have been super happy with the service from Alquinn as well as the quality of our home. When we started looking at houses we viewed homes from several different builders but as soon as we looked one from Alquinn we could see a huge difference in quality and thus proceeded to continue looking at Alquinn homes until we found the one for us. So far we have thoroughly enjoyed our home. We have only found a few minor issues which Alquinn was quick to fix! Overall, it was a great experience to buy from them and would happily do it again!

Bad Quality

Looks pretty, but when you live in this home you will see. Our house is falling apart! And try getting someone to call you back or service you. Good luck!
We have bought a duplex and thought it was a good decision. Now that we live in this home we hate it! We are having trouble selling it because it's a duplex. We will loose money when we sell.
Sucks!

new home

After looking at countless houses around Edmonton and area we have finally found a home. Alquinn homes has been the best buying experience of our lives, from excellent customer service to upfront and honest answers, we couldn't be happier. We were getting the run around from other new home builders in the area but once we fouwend Alquinn, everything changed. The quality of the home is unmatched, from the beautiful layout to the amazing kitchen everything is top quality and on top of everything else the help we got from Myles and the owner made us feel appreciated and secure, 10 out of 10 rating.

New build duplex

This has been by far the worst year of our lives! Sales was terrible, build was 3 months late, owner was rude and still ongoing issues a year on? If you want a stress free life. DONT USE THIS BUILDER! A disgrace.

Single Detached House

Please save yourself huge headaches. Stay away from this builder if you dont want constant problems. They sold way to many houses in 2014 and now cant keep up with the building process. Not enough quality trades that work with them and they fall behind very fast. Very rude staff and does not pick up the phone to deal with the situtation when something wrong or is not completed. *Have to run behind this builder to get any work done*.(Biggest issue) Give you false information about due dates for getting landscaping done or any deficencies around the home. I am moving out of my house because of the quality of this builder and the issues that keep arising every month. I hope you save your self the headache and dont purchase from Alquinn Homes.

New Home Build

My experience with the Sales department was absolutely excellent. I looked at numerous showhomes and most reps wouldn't give me the time of day. Alquinn's staff at both the Hawthorne and Harvest Ridge showhomes were fantastic. They were eager to show other homes in the area to suit my needs. The salesman kept in good contact throughout the whole build process and was quick to answer questions and resolve any issues.

The design team was also great. They allowed us to change most of the colours and options to our style, and having everything at Alquinn's head office was nicer than having to drive place to place to pick materials. This was a very quick process.

One issue was the scheduled walkthrough one week prior to possession. I work out of town and was unable to make it for the day that they had scheduled. Even with a months notice, they weren't willing to budge on the walkthrough date. I understood that everyone has a schedule, but there were 2 parties involved, so it would have been nice to fit my needs as well.

I ended up having my girlfriend do the walkthrough on my behalf. Nothing too major, but she found a few flaws that looked to be pretty amateur. For instance, the tiles in one room aren't flat against one another, causing a lip. The site supervisor attending the walkthrough claimed this is "normal" and that they all do that. Funny, since none of the other rooms have issues, but he did note it for the tiler to come take a look. A few other minor things here and there (screw pops, missing silicone around tile edges, paint nicks). Nothing that can't be fixed before mover in day in a week.

Move in day comes around and I was a bit displeased that I still had no driveway (June 1 possession). They claim it to be seasonal work. I have found that most other home builders pour during the winter months as well, but Alquinn does have a pretty high standard, so I can understand the concern for pouring while the ground is frozen due to cracks and chips. My issue with this is when I asked the site supervisor when I should expect it to be poured, he replied "You get it when you get it." A poor response in my opinion, but fine, he does not control the wait list.

During the final possession walkthrough with the site supervisor, everything seemed great. We went through the deficiency list they had drafted the week prior and the majority of the work was completed.

The issue arose when I mentioned the tile work that I am unhappy with, as he claimed it was "spec" and "normal to warp during manufacturing" (the extra box of tiles in the basement are completely flat, so it is obviously the way they were set). There is also a weird piece of drywall above the door going downstairs that covers the stairs above. It is extremely uneven and looks like quite the hack job. The supervisor mentioned that's one of the better ones he's seen. I hope not. He was unwilling to mark it down as a deficiency.

During the move-in, I had brought a vacuum installer in to finish hooking up the central vac. While we were completing the paperwork, the installer found that the vacuum was not roughed in as it was suppose to be, an issue that was overlooked by myself and girlfriend. The supervisor made some calls and found that it was not in the documentation, so I actually wasn't suppose to have it roughed in (something I would have added during rough in stage). The supervisor wasn't very helpful on this problem stating it will be my word against Alquinn's as to who is responsible for the cost, and even got short with my parents who were there to help move, which was not very professional.

After the paperwork was signed and he left, I did some digging on all the forms I have collected from Alquinn over the last few months, and found I was given a spec sheet that claimed central vac rough in would be included. I snapped a picture and sent it to my salesman, and within 20 minutes, he was at the house and called his manager who said they will foot the cost. Great to have people like that on your side.

Overall I am very happy with the fit and finish. The craftsmanship and attention to detail with this builder is exceptional, and I am not going to let one person ruin my experience. I just hope that staying on them for the tile and drywall issues will go somewhere, hopefully at the end of the 1,6 & 12 month walkthroughs I will be 100% happy.

Disappointing experience purchasing a new home from Alquinn. Warranty work still unfinished. Non functional fixtures being passed as 'acceptable'. Poor organization and coordination of work to be done. Many features and upgrades poor standard.

Home Build

Our first experience with a home builder was terrible so we were very skeptical to ever build again. Alquinn has by far exceeded all of our expectations! They believe in quality projects as a standard which most others are all upgrades, the sales staff are incredibly knowledgeable and follow through with all commitments, the site supers are consistent and answered all of our questions without a hesitation. Time frames are amazing and they keep them as much as possible if something is delayed we were notified right away. We love our home and would recommend this company to any and all of our friends and family that are building a new house!
