AC Repair

I called Vlad two years ago when I had a problem with my central AC. He was super friendly on the phone and VERY prompt (rare, I know). Vlad came out and took a look and had to replace the compressor or something. It was done quickly and all was well again. So when my AC decided to stop working again THIS summer I went to my old files, pulled out their receipt and called them back up. Once again Vlad saved the day. He will call you when on their way (usually gives you a 3 hour window but he called right at the top of the first hour). He showed up about 25 minutes later, looked all around at everything and guess what? There was a GIANT block of ice inside my AC unit!!! OMG!!! I had been running the AC but it wasn't pushing any air because the coil was blocked by...who knows...hair, construction, etc. and so it created this giant block of ice that first had to be MELTED so he could then get to the coil (we didn't find out till the next day that it was because the coils were blocked with a sheet of fabric made of dirt and pet hair). He was very nice and told me what I had to do that night and he'd be back the next day once the ice had melted. He came back, prompt again...and fixed everything else. He even replaced all the nasty duck tape on my unit with higher end tape that won't melt when the furnace gets turned on in the winter. It was nice seeing Vlad again after 2 years and the service that he provides only seemed to get better. Thanks Buddy.

Washer Dryer Combo

My Philips dryer/washer combo stopped allowing water to enter the machine - the dryer was still working and the timer allowed the machine to spin but when it called for water (like at the beginning of any cycle) ... well, nothing doing. I'm a handy guy and I've repaired washers and dryers before, using how-to books or Google searches. So I checked, the water inlet hoses (clogs are a frequent problem). The hoses were fine. After that, it gets more difficult and we were leaving for New York the very next day - it could have been the inlet valve or the timer itself. Both require a lot of disassembly and checking with a volt / ohmeter. I could do that but was running out of time. I called ABC Appliance Repair. Vlad called me back (he was highly, highly rated on Homestars). And then he arrived ... what a guy! A real Russian character with a big smile! In a few minutes he had discovered that it was blown fuse, NOT any of the major components mentioned above. Presto - he replaced the fuse and the washer sprung back to life. It would have been just as easy for him to dishonestly claim that it was a major part and charge me hundreds. No...just a simple fuse. This guy is a gem and unique in today's world. If your appliances are giving you headaches call Vlad.

Laundy Machines

Vlad from Abc Appliance was great. I actually used him to do appliance installation following my move to a new place 2 months ago. I moved with me a full size washer and dryer (dryer is gas) and found that the moving company guys literally wedged them into the laundry closet rather than stacking them (which overall was ok). But in the beginning not only could I not open the doors of either the washer or dryer, but I could not get behind the dryer to hook up the gas even if I knew how - or had the required yellow hose or dryer vent tube.
After calling a couple of a few technicians, I settled on Abc Appliance mainly because 1) I got a live person the first time I called (Vlad); 2) He said he would call me back in 30 minutes with scheduling options for that week - and he did; and 3) reasonable pricing.
Vlad came on time, with the required tube and hose in tow (of course I paid $2 or $3 extra for that, but another place I called said I would have to go purchase the parts myself so it was worth it for them to bring it). He was nice, professional, fast, and cleaned up afterwards. He also fixed the detergent dispensing cup. I would not hesitate to call them for any appliance repair issues. As an aside, I mentioned an HVAC issue I was having and while they couldn't address that, they recommended another provider for me to call. To me, that shows they understand the value of referrals and they want their customers to be happy. Vlad and Abc Appliance over all is just great as a company, dont hesitate and give them a call.

60's stove working again

We have an old 60's stove in our new place. We love the look of it and the way the burners work, but we couldn't get the oven to work. We'd chatted with several people about the situation. Most warned we'd be looking at a repair that could cost more than a grand (or several). It seemed hopeless.
It's hard to find someone you can trust who really knows how to work with these old appliances. After reading all of the great reviews about ABC Appliance Repair, we called Vlad. He was very helpful. He first tried and help us over the phone--just to save us the expense of a visit. When we needed more help, Vlad came over on a Saturday night! Unbelievable over the top service.
He was amazing. He worked on the oven for about an hour, made adjustments, and got everything working well. We needed no new parts at all, and his rate was very reasonable. Vlad is super friendly, very knowledgeable, fun to deal with. Its amazing that his knowledge in appliances is so big that he know how to fix stuff which is simply like antiques.

Washer issue

ABC Appliance rules the owners name is Vlad. He repairs washers, dryers, stoves and refrigerators. He goes everywhere in the GTA (I live in Brampton) and is reasonable, fast, and effective. He charges 20 DOLLARS to look at your problem! (I think my appliance maker wanted $90, just to come out), and then gives you the scoop on what is going on, and how much it will cost. He's really reasonable, and his turnaround time is quick. Since this was one of many projects in the house that we bought we were glad to find a Vlad who is a real pro when it comes to Appliances. So, if I would have gone with my appliance maker I would have paid $90 (just to come out) and then approx $180 (for the repair) with a total cost of = $270. With Vlad, I paid $20 for him to come out, and he was able to fix it two days later for $115 (Total = $135). Major difference in money saved Plus it's guaranteed for a year!

From the time I called, he came out the next morning (on time) to diagnose the problem, and then would have come the following day for repair (needed to get parts, etc..for my make/model of washer)....but since I had to work, he came on Saturday (no extra charge) and was done in a half an hour.

He is very pleasant, your Grandma would probably love him too, go with VLAD for a great deal.

Stove Fix

I recently had another great, stove-saving visit (for a beloved ancient '51 Magic Chef) from Vlad at ABC appliance repair, whose patience, skill, humor, honesty, humanity and diligence are rare in this hustle bustle world. His visits not only fix the appliance, but they will teach you about troubleshooting things yourself and understanding what why the repair is needed. His fees are incredibly reasonable. We highly recommend him. In the two years since he first saved our stove, he has become very popular. As a one-man operation who only does a complete and professional job on whatever he's working on, he's understandably very busy. But he never forgets about his long time customers and he always work on the weekends just to make sure that everyone is taken care of.

Broken Fridge.

Before I knew about homestars we had someone over to repair our stove. After literally less than a minute it was working which was great but the base charge was $65. I am all about making sure someone is compensated but felt that it could have been handled perhaps differently.
Fast forward to when our fridge refused to get cold. I needed help and fast. Homestars helped me find Vlad. It was a blast from the past so to speak. Vlad is that kind of guy my parents and grandparents talked about. The local guy you can call on when you need him and you can trust. He tried to help me out over the phone to see if it could be fixed easily and quickly without him having to come over (he is very busy and we needed to find a time that worked for both of us but it was done quickly).
When he came over, he figured out the fan in the freezer was broken. He could of told me we needed some kind of expensive part but instead he thawed it out and got us back up and running again. I am grateful to know that there are still people you can trust when you need something fixed. After all everything together had cost me just 40 bucks.

Happy customer

So our freezer in the basement was icing up, and there was ice forming in the back of the refrigerator part. It would melt, then ice up again. Big puddles of water were running down the basement floor.
We didn't have anyone, so I did a search online and found ABC Appliance Repair, which is very close to where we live. I went to the site, and it sounded good. However, I was skeptical. Of course it was going to say good things. But I called Vlad, and we had a nice conversation. I explained everything to him, and he tried to see if there was something I could do about it first over the phone. What he suspected was true, and I wanted him to take care of it, which he did. I was really amazed at what Vlad knew, and how fast he took care of the problem. Now the refrigerator works like new (and it's over 15 years old!). We are really happy with his work and the price was very reasonable. Everything I read on his site was true! All of those testimonials were on the money. I am now a happy customer and will definitely recommend ABC to all of my friends.

Fridge

Vlad was helpful, competent, affordable, wonderful to do business with. I actually feel a little guilty, like no one should be that nice, like I got away with something. Like I was expecting a nightmare and got a miracle instead. I called him in the morning with a refrigerator that was getting louder and louder and running all the time. He walked me through a self repair (cleaning the vents and fan) which helped me diagnose the real problem: the fan was out of alignment (and not cooling the engine properly which made it turn itself off, then come back on, over and over, with the fan rattling louder each time, argh!)
I couldn't fix the fan myself despite Vlads attempt to talk me through it (which, by the way, would have been free), so on the very same day Vlad came by and now my refrigerator purrs like a cat. He fixed one of the burners on my stove, too, at no extra charge. Turns out there was nothing wrong with it. It just needed a special oil that naturally Vlad had on hand. I hadn't used that burner in seven years, luckily all of my appliances are working just fine.

A/C Fix

I called Vlad from ABC Appliance Repair a few weeks back because I have had some problems with my air conditioner. After explaining my situation, he understood the problem and told me what was wrong.
In order for the wall room air condition to work perfectly, it must be the correct size. If it's not the correct size it will stop working after a year on hot summer days because it gets overheated, but when it's not too hot, it works as it should. I thought I had the correct size, but its a different brand, so I does not fit perfectly.
Instead of sending my air conditioner to repair and pay a fortune for nothing, he explained that I would have to buy a new air conditioner that would fit into the wall perfectly, or place the air conditioner somewhere else in order for it to work. This information saved me a lot of time, anger, and money. So Vlad came out a few days later and simply placed it in a different room of my house. It saved me time and money to be spent on the new unit. Thank you Vlad.
