Remodelling a kitchen is a significant investment and so my wife and I spent a good deal of time researching providers. There were a number of things that impressed us with John at OKD. Firstly, his design was the most functional of all those we received - John had really thought about how to use the space available and how the flow of the kitchen would work. Secondly, his 3D layouts were of a very high standard. Thirdly, OKD was the only company that offered us a turnkey service, taking full responsibility for the entire project and the management of subcontractors. This is a significant benefit and the trades John uses are very good. OKD completed our kitchen renovation on time and on budget and have taken care of any minor issues following completion. I have no hesitation in recommending OKD.

Our kitchen is C-shaped. Not one side has the decent width. So we struggled to imagine how different and better our kitchen could be renovated. We shopped around and got more confused. We searched the reviews on Internet and came across OKD. The people, who did the reviews on OKD, were right. OKD's designing, scheduling, choosing the material, installing cabinets and finishing small details all impressed us so much. I will upload the pictures before and after the renovation. I am a contractor by trade, and after an enormous amount of research, and some fantastic reviews on home stars, I decided to call John at Oakville kitchen designers. I am so glad we did. John is a consummate professional, as well as an incredible designer. The first step was John taking a look at our existing kitchen, and coming up with the most amazing three-dimensional design drawings. Wow. His company uses state-of-the-art design programs which allow you to see exactly what your kitchen will look like. To this day I am amazed at how close the original drawings are to the completed kitchen. Incredible. After we have chosen the design, the next step was for John to set up a schedule of work. All deadlines were adhered to perfectly, without a hiccup. His craftsmen were the best I have ever seen, and I have worked with hundreds in restoration. The proof is in the pictures. All very clean and true attention to detail. Everything was completed exactly to schedule and exceeded our expectation on every level. It was a long process in selecting a company for my kitchen reno. I took my time and really listened to different people explain what they could offer me to make my conceptualization come to life. It was evident when I first met John from Oakville kitchen designers that he really knew the entire scope of what I was looking for in my kitchen which really came to life for me when he showed me the design. The level of detail and knowledge was clear and stood out compared to others I had spoken to. The Job entailed more than just a kitchen reno but also a change of room design. John was helpful every step of the way in terms of selection of colours and styles. There was regular communication throughout the entire process of the job. We interviewed half a dozen kitchen designers and narrowed it down to three we felt could do the job.
John listened carefully to what we wanted and proceeded to hit the ball out of the park with his design which he then delivered on budget and on schedule. John was punctual, always kept his word and was responsive to our needs throughout the project. John's sub contractors were true professions and John responded quickly to any issues that would arise during the project. You simply can't go wrong choosing OKD to renovate your kitchen. We are extremely pleased with our new kitchen and thank John for giving us a kitchen worthy of a high end magazine layout.

We used Oakville Kitchen Design to design and build our new kitchen and mud room. We chose them because we were very impressed with the owner, John Vanderlock, and his design ideas for the new kitchen layout as well as the detailed plans that he provided after our first discussion. John uses his showroom effectively, so that you can see different colour schemes and materials working together, as well as an excellent design package so that everyone has agreed what the finished kitchen will exactly look like before work begins.

John has a team of independent tradesmen that undertake the construction. Whilst we initially had some concerns about this, John was often on-site monitoring the progress, making sure that work was being completed properly and on time. Additionally, it was very clear that the team had worked together for a number of years, were all excellent, and so had a very good understanding of what was required - the quality of their workmanship was the best.

What probably impressed us most, was the effort around the ‘final 10%’ of the project. These are all the small fiddly jobs that are difficult to foresee at the beginning. In any case, whatever we asked for, was done and completed quickly and Oakville Kitchen Design has given us a kitchen that we are very happy to entertain in. In addition, John has promised to come back in 6 months, after we have used the kitchen properly, to see if there are any areas that need attention.

During the summer of 2014, we retained Oakville Kitchen Designers to replace our kitchen. Overall, we were very happy with the service and result. John was very knowledgable and creative. Just one week later he delivered a full-scale kitchen reno design complete with 3D drawings and a reasonable estimate. Check. During the reno process, I was particularly impressed with John’s ability to manage timeline expectations and to resolve unexpected challenges. He was quick to respond to questions and maintained a calming disposition. In a nutshell, his highly talented team delivered on their promise…and an incredible custom kitchen. Before giving them the contract to design our new kitchen we had tried various designers who missed the mark, but John at OKD nailed the design on his first try. Mostly, we believe because he asked the right questions, listened and so really understood us.

We appreciated his project management style as he was able to meet timelines with no unpleasant surprises. John has a high level of detail and takes accountability for his work.

We are in love with our kitchen and never get tired of the look of awe our friends and guests have when they first see it.
