Damaged in Move

Please do your homework before choosing this company. Much of my furniture has been damaged. I moved in January, placed my claim in February and have not heard from the office as yet. They have not as yet even acknowledged that I made a claim. My email has gone unanswered. Many pieces of furniture is damaged beyond repair.

Moving from Montreal - Edmonton

The movers themselves were very good. Efficient, hardworking, and they packed well enough that we had very little breakage (just a few IKEA pieces didn't survive the trip). What I was unsatisfied with was the customer support I received from the office. I felt that I always had to be in touch to get any news, and even that was difficult. Part of our shipment came separately, and took three months to finally arrive. I had to be in touch with the office each step of the way- checking in, asking where is our stuff, reminding them it hadn't been delivered yet, then one thing was missing (out of 4 items to be delivered, they couldn't check the inventory list??) so I had to be in touch again. And again. And again. The response was always polite and apologetic, but I would have preferred someone to stay on top of the situation and ensure that it got done without requiring me to follow up all the time. I had enough to do, and I PAID enough already. One other thing I wasn't happy with- our delivery was delayed by one week due to weather, which I can understand is out of everyone's control. But when they said "the delivery will *likely* be on Wednesday", I expected communication on Tuesday. I think they just assumed that I would "figure it out" that it wasn't coming on Wednesday since they didn't call. ie. they only call when they are certain of delivery. They don't call to say revise their expected delivery date. It was totally frustrating. SO, overall, they aren't crooks like some moving companies you read about, just not very proactive when it comes to customer support. I wouldn't recommend them for that reason. I think if you pay nearly 10 grand, they can prioritize customer support a little more.

Cross-Country Move

This was SUCH an awful experience! Furniture unwrapped and badly damaged, breakables that we'd paid extra to have specially wrapped were unwrapped and broken! We've moved a few times and have never experienced such a lack of regard for the possessions that we'd entrusted to their care. Worst moving experience ever!

Move from Alberta to Prince George

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! We moved from Calgary to Prince George. The company picked up our belongings and stored them for us for a month. We set the delivery date to be Nov 3, and ny husband took the day off work to sit in our new empty house to wait for them to deliver. After 10 hours and no communication or delivery (the 1-800 provided was only during business hours), we waiting until the following day to receive our goods. Upon questioning, the delivery drivers gave us a different story than the office as to why the delivery was delayed. Once payment was received (and only after payment was received) they unloaded our goods. We had large dents in every appliance, broken chairs, tables, broken art work, and big gouges out of majority of the furniture. We contacted the company, supplied them with the list of damages and we were told we would hear back from them within 4-6 weeks. 2 months passed, and I emailed them. They came back with a replacement quote of $35. yup... $35! I am not sure where to start replacing items with all that money... should I replace to top of my washer ($400) or the $3000 bedroom suite that has chunks taken out of every corner? Decisions, decisions. This company started off very helpful, friendly and quick with responses. But after they got our money, they couldn't care less about our possessions. So if you work hard for your money and take pride in what you own, do not trust these bafoons with your stuff. The 2 companies that my husband and I work for both have added Atlantic Van Lines to their lists of "Do not use" for any other transfers across Canada. I have never been more disappointed in a company and their oblivion to customer service. If you would like to hear any more details feel free to email me at maritkeen@shaw.ca
I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy.

My moving experience with Atlantic Van lines

Hi, my name is Victoria and I would like to thank everyone at Atlantic Van Lines. All the office staff, and the 2 movers who were amazing when picking up my stuff in Ontario.

Being a student, and moving for the first time, I had no idea about the moving world. I must say, it felt good to know the office staff was willing to help out and every time I called I was satisfied with the conversation because they cared enough to help me.

Delivery team; hats off to them. With Quebecs cold weather and snowfalls, they still managed to deliver my items before I go away to visit my parents for Christmas and I really appreciated that.
THANK YOU ATLANTIC VAN LINES!!!!!

Moved form Alberta to Ontario

Today, when you go home, take a moment to look around your living room. Take a good look at all your furniture, your favorite chair, maybe some pieces are still not fully paid, or maybe some of them have been in the family for a while. Go to your bedroom and do the same. Think about how much money, effort, and time, has taken you and your family to gather all the items that make your home be home.

Now close your eyes, and imagine every single piece of furniture with a visible scratch and, for some, imagine that small pieces of wood have been peeled off. Imagine your lamps with broken shades, or darkened with spots made by an oily substance. Imagine one of your kids bed gone, and the dollhouse that made your daughter happy last Christmas vanish.

That’s the experience I got with Atlantic Van Lines, for over eleven thousand dollars, plus broken and lost items.

I will begin by saying that I have moved about 22 times in my life. Out of those 22 times, I have hired professional movers only 10 times. Well, make that 9, because the service I got from Atlantic Van Lines has not been professional at all. Here’s why:

On July 15th, 2013 I confirmed my move from Edmonton, AB to Waterloo, ON, scheduled for August 10th. We were excited about hiring, for the first time, a professional service to take care of the move, from packing to delivering. We didn’t know the rules, so we asked at least a couple of times what should be done before the move, with the same answer both times: “nothing, don’t worry about it”.

Friday August 9th: Even though we were told to expect a phone call to setup a time for pickup we didn’t receive a phone call all day. When I called, around 16:00, the answer was “the schedule is not finalized, so by the end of the day you will get a call”.

Saturday August 10th: For some reason (we thought we hired a professional, serious company), we hoped someone would show up. Around 11:00 am, my call was picked up by a person clearly annoyed by my inquiry, saying in a rather rude tone that they would show up between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. Around 3:00 pm the same person, now even more annoyed and more rude, said they would show up before 5:00, assuring they would have the truck loaded in one or two hours. This person didn’t even asked me who I was, neither looked up anything on a computer; she just brushed me off. Of course nobody showed up. My emails to customer service remain unanswered until now.

Monday August 12th: After a very stressful Sunday, we finally made contact with Atlantic Van Lines. Early in the afternoon they sent somebody to pick up our items. We had to sign the paperwork for our new home, so we were already in Ontario, and were forced to ask friends to be at our place to make sure the movers would take everything. Movers warned immediately about two things: the truck was not large enough to take everything we had, and it would take 10 hours. Atlantic Van Lines did nothing about it, and sure enough, it took 10 hours and some items were left behind. Our friends had to pitch-in packing stuff to make things go faster. Of course I had to get rid of my wines and liquors, because Atlantic Van Lines neglected to let us know they would not take those items, even though we asked more than once if there was something we needed to know. A standard letter would suffice, you would think, but that’s professional thinking, too high level for this company.

Tuesday August 13th: They came back to pickup the rest of our items. The surprise of the day is that when I talked to the manager of Atlantic Van Lines (Lucy), she knew nothing about our case, even though we were told (by Farah) she was aware of everything.

Friday August 30th: Items were delivered at our home, after 17 days (14 in transit, and we were told 5 to 10 days in several occasions). We paid the trucker. What we found later was shocking.
Two broken book cases (broken in half, literally), two missing bicycles (delivered a couple of weeks later), my daughter’s dollhouse missing, one of my kid’s bed missing (also delivered a couple of weeks later, with some damage), more than half or our wine glasses broken (why? Because they packed them underneath pans), things thrown into boxes carelessly, stained boxes with an oily substance, no lamp made it intact, broken adjustable legs of the stove, most of the furniture with visible marks of being hit or mishandled, and the list goes on and on…

I have never seen a display of such unprofessionalism and bad service by a moving company. They should not be rated above 3. Clearly the people doing the work are not professional movers. I have seen professional movers before, and these are not it. To be fare, it is not the movers’ fault. These are guys hired and sent to work with no training, no experience, and they are doing what they can to get things done.

Second Move with Atlantic

My wife and I recently used Atlantic Van Lines to move us to our new home in Toronto. We had used them a few years ago for a move from Windsor to Montreal and had a great experience, so when it came time for our newest move we asked for a quote and the planning began.
Our sales rep Farah was a pleasure to deal with; she was just as helpful and informative with this move as she was the last.
The crew came right on time for the pickup, loaded up quickly and were very polite. The delivery crew was a few hours later than what they had told us the day before, but the driver called as soon as he knew he was delayed so at least we didn’t have to sit around and wait for no reason, when the crew got there they were very friendly and apologetic and the delivery went so well it made up for the couple hours they were late.
We are very happy we went with Atlantic again, and would highly recommend them!

Moving

I had a good experience with Atlantic Van lines during my recent move from Calgary to Toronto. We had a bigger move and required some packing as well. I was happy with the crew who took the time to wrap everything. My things arrived on time and Atlantic was able to accommodate my elevator time at delivery location. Had no issues with the delivery crew. They were fast and the offloading didn't take more then 3 hours. They helped assemble the beds which was a nice treat and we were able to start our new life.

The customer service was nice and my sales rep was up front and took the time to explain everything. I was surprised when my goods arrived 2 days before schedule.

Great service and wouldn't hesitate to move with them again.
