New central air install

My house in waterloo was recently purchased with a builder's model trane furnace,The house is only 3 years old and so is the furnace in there.when i called around to get prices for my new a/c,all my friends told me that my furnace warranty will be void if i did not get the a/c from the company that installed the furnace..infact this was confirmed by two other contractors i contacted to get prices for the new central air...but the aireone customer service team were amazing in answering my questions dealing with them was the best choice i made as far as my hvac needs go..not only did thier rep came to my home and explained evreything to me in a very simple way.the deal was so sweet that i totally forgot about mentioning the furnace warranty issue, but when they finalized the deal ..there it was..a certificate of warranty for my old furnace even though it was never mentioned in the sales agreement.i'm so pleased with the results i have told all my friends to buy from them.overall exprience was day and night compared to other contractors..aireone comes highly recommended from where i'm sitting.

kind regards.

Boiler replacement

We bought our house in May 2008 and the boiler was on its last legs. Our home inspector had suggested that we replace the boiler. We found out about Aire One through my in-laws who just had their A/C and furnace replaced. We were walked through our options and available government incentives, finding the right fit of price point and efficiency level. We had our boiler replaced by Aire One in March 2009. The installation and cleanup job were great - wouldn't have known that someone had been in the house save for a hole cut in the bulkhead in the basement. (This was done to provide clearance for the exhaust duct.) The Lennox boiler works great and the installation looks clean - we've noticed the difference on our gas bill since.

High-E AC installation

I purchased the first high-e AC+furnace from AireOne in 2008 for my first home in Kitchener. Loved it!! Their service was excellent. As a home owner, you don't need to worry about anything - sales person came to see the layout of the house and recommended the unit that would work the best for the house. And the installation team were very efficient to put everything together and haul-away the 20-year old furnace for free. I was so glad to have AC installed that summer.

I purchased another high-e AC from them June 2010 since we built a Energy-Star home in Waterloo. The same sales person came by and recommended a unit works perfectly for our high-e furnace, which was installed by the builder. They arranged the installation before the HST took effect, so I saved more than $200 on the purchase if it was purchased after July. They took care of everything and the outside unit is so quiet. We loved it and enjoyed it!

Great team work! All the best for you!

Air Conditioning & installation

I finally decided to get myself an air conditioner (long overdue).
Aire One explained which system would best suit my needs and I was really pleased with the deal I received. Aire One took care of everything on the installation. Mine was bit tricky with a narrow walkway between the houses to get the unit into the yard but they took it all in stride. The unit works amazingly and I really can't believe that I waited as long as I did to do this. Thanks for a great effort all around!

AC, furnace, HRV, humidifier.

Our air conditioning crashed a couple of years ago. Not surprising considering its age. We obtained three quotes from known local contractors. Aire One was by far the lowest. The significant (25%) difference in price concerned us a little, but we went with them anyway hoping that their installation crew would be good. The equipment was well-known good quality standard brand equipment. The installation crew was excellent...professional, courteous, skilled and cooperative. All in all a really good job at a price considerably lower that the competitors. It is now two years later, and there have been no problems at all.

Then again last year, to take advantage of the government credits, we replaced our aging furnace, HRV and humidifiers. Again we got three quotes and Aire One was again by far the lowest. Quite frankly I do not know how they do it; it must be their bulk buying and low margin high volume. We gave them the contract and again the installation crew was professional and skilled. So far we have had had no problem whatsoever with the equipment.

Aire One is without any doubt the lowest price, highest quality contractor in the area. There are a number of office/franchises....however I am referring to the John Street, Markham/Thornhill office.

Ductless Air Conditioner Installation

We called the Aire One Dupont office (Toronto) for a quote on a ductless air conditioner in our 100+ year old house. The sales consultant was nice, and although he recommended buying and installing two units for our two story house, he was not pushy about it. So this is what we agreed to in the contract:

1. The condenser would be installed on the side of the house, out of the reach of our 2 year old. We even paid extra for the angle brackets for this type of install

2. The drainage line would be run to the outside of the house

3. The head would be installed at the top of the stairs, blowing down the stairs and the hallway.

We were originally scheduled for the install on a Thursday, but then we got bumped to the next day, Friday. On Friday, we received a call informing us that the installer would not be arriving until later. He did not arrive until almost noon.

Immediately, the installer wanted to install the condenser on the ground. I said no, that is not in the contract, and we had paid more for an installation on the side of the house. That should have tipped me off immediately that he was going to try and take the easy way out on the whole installation.

Next, he wanted to drain the condensate into the bathroom plumbing, rather than to the exterior of the house. He explained that it would be nicer and easier. I thought it would be a good idea too, until he said it was "not his job to tie it into the plumbing". When I stated that I was not told that I had to get a plumber, he suggested I use a bucket under the sink. I was vehemently opposed to this idea. Later, another installer from Aire One also suggested that we drain it directly into the bath tub, which would be even worse in terms of it being an eyesore and for potential staining and mold.

Finally, the installer wanted to install the head above a bedroom door that would blow directly into a wall, instead of down the stairs and hallway. Again, this would have been the shortest install route for the power and the refrigerant lines. Of course, I refused this suggestion too.

In total, the installer spent 6+ hours at our house, with nothing accomplished except for a few very clumsy holes cut (punched?) into the walls. He had spent most of that time arguing with me on the details of the contract, and trying to convince me that the easiest way for him was the best way.

They then left for the weekend. We assessed their (non) progress, and based on the fact that we 1) were still within the 10 day cooling off period for contracts 2) that NOTHING was actually installed, we decided to cancel the contract. Aire One did refund us the full deposit, although via cheque rather than credit card as we had originally used (probably to avoid the 2% fee, but they had made the excuse that their machine was broken). We also asked that they patch the holes in our walls. They did make an attempt, but the job was rushed and sloppy, and the mesh is already peeling.

Another very strange thing we found was the that installer was wearing a Home Depot ID badge. Perhaps Aire One had subcontracted out due to the high demand during hot weather? Overall, I found the installer to be lazy, argumentative and incompetent.

We were very disappointed in Aire One and will never deal with them again. Nor will we ever recommend them to anyone.

Hello,

We do appreciate your business and your honest feedback. We thank you for your patience and understanding. It breaks our heart to hear that such a misunderstanding has caused you some grief.

We understand your frustration and have had to let that installer go. We wished you had told us of this sooner so that we could have done something and not risked damaging your impression of us. We wish we could do something else about this, but we now understand your perspective and hope that you would understand ours.

Air Conditioner Service and Repair

This summer during the heat wave, my air conditioner would not turn on. I called Aire One thinking they would not be able to come for a few weeks due to the busy season but the kind operator told me they could come tomorrow!

I was pleased to hear that and even more pleased that the technician gave me a call to ask if he could come earlier, he arrived right at 8am.

He explained to me what he was going to do and how much it would cost to find the problem. 5 minutes later he came back and asked if I had an A/C cover and if it's possible it might have turned on by accident in the Winter.

Turns out the newer A/C's have a safety kill switch that disconnects and shuts down the A/C if the cover is on or if the outside temperature is cold. All that was needed was for the technician to reset that switch.

The whole appointment took about 15 minutes and I am one very satisfied customer, Thank you Aire One!
