I hired Anthony after interviewing a number of contractors. Ultimately - I went with Anthony almost as a gut decision, he came across as just an honest guy that really cares about the quality of his work. We talked a lot about construction technique and I came away feeling that Anthony was both trained and up-to-date on best/modern practices when it comes to paver installation (the fact that he was a Unilock Authorized Contractor helped as well).
As for the process of the installation, I found Anthony and his crew (Rusty and Brandon) to be just all-around good guys who knows what they are doing. They were quite meticulous in their preparation of the base, and actually spent a good amount of time making sure that it was built right (e.g. digging deep enough, compacting regularly between lifts, etc.). Of course, only time (i.e. a couple of Canadian winters) can tell whether the patio and walkway stands up to the test. However, this will be the case with any contractor. So for a homeowner like myself, all I can hope is that I select a contractor who demonstrates care in his work. I believe Anthony and his crew lives up to that. They implemented a design that we collaborated on and I am really happy with how it all turned out - really looking to spending more time now in our new outdoor area!
Finally, I would just like to add that they were real easy to work with and friendly (not a given in my experience with other contractors) - they did not give me attitude or push-back for slight changes/alterations, they were just completed and accomodated without question. From this experience, I walked away feeling that any warranty work that may need to get done in the future, Anthony and team would address those for me without hassle and expediently (again, only time can tell). In any case, I have no hesitation recommending Anthony, Rusty, and Brandon from Hawksdale.

From the first contact through the completion of the project Hawksdale Landscaping was reliable, friendly, and with good follow through. Cooperative in terms of scheduling. Work quality was good. Will not hesitate to use Hawksdale Landscaping again!

After a tough winter, many of our trees and hedges were either dead or in poor shape. We called Anthony from a referral of one of our neighbours. He showed up on time for the meeting and gave us some great ideas. Not only fixing the bad winter damage but added some creative additional beds and a new cedar hedge in front of a long fence that made the area look much more natural. His price was higher than some other quotes but he delivered great work, on time and within our budget and his quote. Thanks Anthony

I have a backyard, about 120 feet by 50 feet, out of which 50 feet by 50 feet usually gets flooded every time it rains heavily. I called Hawksdale after I got a recommendation for them by my neighbor who had a similar problem. I was advised that my yard needed a french drain, and I wanted to put artificial grass to prevent my puppies from digging my lawn. Tony's crew dug out a big pit in the backyard and installed a french drain, and prepared my backyard for the installation of artificial grass in about 8 hours. The french drain work was completed, but only 75% of the prep of the lawn was completed. The other 25% had to be left out because the bin ordered was too small, and they ran out of sand. I had to get the crew for a second time to complete the work, so in that respect they were a little inefficient.
There is not all positives but some negatives with this company. My initial estimate was quite a bit smaller from the first invoice and the subsequent invoices I got from them.
The second negative aspect is that the french drain I put in does not work for my house. The flooding remains similar if not same in my backyard inspite of the french drain.

Anthony did an outstanding job on our retaining wall. He came every day and worked morning till evening till it was completed(5 days). He used good construction techniques and design sense
to make a solid wall that should withstand many winters.

We hired Anthony to fix up a poorly constructed retaining wall leading down to our basement as well a complete redesign of our backyard. Anthony was meticulous in his work, detailing options on how to best correct the previous contractors work.

He also gave us lots of choices in the landscape design of our yard, at all times thinking things through and trying to find cost effective and attractive solutions. He brought in Anthony 2 to construct a sliding gate and fence which my husband LOVES. It's ideal for a small laneway entrance and we've had countless neighbours and other contractors (we are also finishing our interior basement) commenting on the unique and beautiful solution.

If inclement weather interrupted the progress, Anthony and his crew worked even longer and harder the next day. The work site was always left neat and tidy at the end of each day, thus creating minimal disturbance and inconvenience for my neighbours. At times when I was unsure how to proceed, Anthony would take the time to meticulously explain the options and possibilities available to me. He would offer his own personal opinion only when asked and at no time did I ever feel pressured to proceed in a direction not of my own choosing. When unsure of the right choice, I opted to go with Anthony's suggestions and was never disappointed. Now with the completed project behind us, I am very pleased indeed to say that my faith and trust were not misplaced. If asked to describe the people behind Hawksdale Landscaping the words that immediately come to mind are honesty, integrity, exeptional work ethic, creative, diligent, meticulous attention to detail, patient and professional. In short, I would not hesitate to recommend them and plan to definitely contact them again for any future projects that I may encounter.

We recently engaged HawksDale Landscaping to remove old shrubbery at the front of the house as well as an old hedge along the driveway.
