Stairs 2 U

We had our staircase refinished in August 2013 - Including bannisters & spindles removed, painted and reinstalled + carpet removed from risers and treads, then painted and stained. Matt and his partner were always on time and the cost came in on budget. They also recommended against 2 stains we'd chosen which would have negatively impacted the look. We're very pleased with the outcome especially as the dust and intrusion, while always there, was far less than we'd expected.
If you're considering a similar project as ours remember that builders carpet covers a lot of things including noise, creakiness and wood ans stair imperfections so when you remove it the end results will never be perfect.

Matt and Ted were a pleasure to have in our home. They were here every day for a couple of weeks. They replaced our carpeted spruce stairs with beautiful stained oak. Matt custom made the banisters because we did not like the manufacturer options. We chose iron posts - he brought over 10 to choose from. We LOVE our stairs. We intend to have Matt & Ted lay the hardwood in all of our bedrooms as well.

After contacting 3 different companies for an estimate, Matt was the only contractor who came for an on site estimate. We required about 7 stairs to be done and 2 separate railing systems. Matt provided us samples and drawings of what we wanted and was willing to negotiate his price to accomodate our needs. The project took about 2 weeks to complete, and Matt was able to start about 3 weeks after we met him. Even when the project was complete, we wanted to change the height of our railing posts, so we contacted Matt and he gladly complied with our final request. This is the first thing you see when you enter our house and all our friends and family love the new entrance way. I know the railing is safe and secure now, and was glad with my decision to choose Matt and the Stairs2U service.

I have to say the service was top notch, the finished stairs and railing look wonderful and we couldn't be happier with Matt and his team. He delivered quality service in the time he frame he promised. I have already recommended Stairs 2U to others.

These guys have no pride in workmanship. Really bad work that I had to keep telling them and then all the excuses I had to hear. The work is sub professional. They claim on the website many things not one was evident in doing the work.

Dont use these guys. They were a month late, his kids do most of the work (drank all the beer in the fridge - although he did offer to pay for it) and he is usually at another job site. The stairs look great, but creak so loudly that the baby wakes up anytime someone uses them. The floors are uneven with the fireplace hearth (they installed the subfloor), there are loose boards, creaking uneven spots on the floor, and I am convinced that I will have to redo the floors in 5 years or less. With constant calls to them to fix the problem, I'm told that they have other projects and no time for me, and that they have done the best they can, I am on my own. Yet another con job from so called professional contractors. Be aware.
