Royal Roofing was selected to re-roof our veranda roof. We supplied the shingles. We were very happy with the attention and fast service, even though it was a relatively small job. The work was excellent, and the clean-up was spotless. Very reasonable,too!

Lewis & Nick are two stand up roofing contractors that exceed customer service. I was in the process of doing a full first floor reno on an 100 + year old home in Toronto and was let down on numerous occasions with various trades but to my surprise Royal Roofing lived up to their word. When they said they would be there, they were. No hidden cost, always returned my calls and simply went above and beyond from a customer service stand point. I don't typically write reviews but in this case it was well warranted. There are few and far between when it comes to being reliable in the contracting world but Royal Roofing can be trusted with my dime any day.

I hired Royal Roofing to reshingle my bungalow and carport. They did everything right, from promptly responding to a request for an estimate to a thorough clean up after the job was done. The crew did a first rate job, even in difficult places such as where the carport roof went under the eaves of the house. Their price was competitive; companies giving lower estimates were clearly cutting corners. I would hire Royal Roofing again, and have no reservations about recommending them to friends.

Needed to replace my very steep roof and a friend recommended Royal Roofing. Placed a call Saturday morning and within a few hours Louis and Nick showed up and gave me a detailed & fair estimate. A few days later a crew showed up and managed to complete the job the same day. As it was dusk when they finished, Louis and Nick came back the next day to inspect the roof to ensure nothing was missed during the shrinking daylight hours.

Our detached house is not older than 10 years and the shingles started curling and on inspection, we found out that many of them were thrown away with the strong winds during storm or otherwise. The reason was that the original shingles were of poor quality. I know old houses can go on for more than 25 years without the need of re-roofing because of quality material people used earlier in those times.

I contacted Louis and Nick and they came over to provide me with a quote. On the total price quote, they also offered me 5% discount if I decided to give them the roofing project. The price was reasonable, the crew arrived on time and did a thorough professional job. After the whole project was complete in about 12 hours, they did full cleaning of the backyard and front yard (including driveway) to ensure there were no nails left behind. Because we have small children, Louis & Nick ensured that the crew cleaned the areas with the magnetic broom. Drive way, side-walk, eaves trough and drain pipes were totally cleaned by the vacuum cleaner. I was very happy with their job and would recommend them to everyone. Excellent, excellent company. I needed a small flat roof fixed in a pinch and Nick was the only guy that called me back. Too small for most companies to even bother. As with all their work, they were fast, efficient, and easy to work out. Subsequently I have had them do three more roofs on different properties (both flat and sloped) and the experience has been the same throughout. (On the first job, I didn't get other quotes as no one else would call me back. On the second job I did get three other quotes to compare and Royal was the clear winner.) They do both the big and little things right.

Today Royal Rofing completed a small flat roof replacement. We were happy with their work. Nick and his crew take pride in their work and genuinly try to satisfy the customer. It is refreshing in today's market where most contractors just want to rush the job and collect the payment. We have no hesitation to recommend Royal Roofing to anyone.

** Update Nov 1, 2012. Nick asked if I could update my comments/scores given almost 3 months have gone by since the repair was done. I am happy to provide an update. After a number of storms, including the most recent storm "Sandy"....we are pleased to say there have been no leaks. Thanks. **

Last week when there was a storm, we noticed that there was water dripping into our unfinished basement laundry room from the furnace/hot water venting. Thankfully it was in the unfinished part of our basement. We quickly jumped onto Homestars to research good roofing companies. We wanted this fixed ASAP to prevent any further issues. From a bad prior experience using another company for a diff type of job...we didn't just look at companies with high overall scores. Instead we went deeper in our Homestars research, looked at companies with high overall scores, more importantly read through the Homestars review comments, and we made sure to check if there were any low scores in all the reviews. We found Royal Roofing, read their reviews, and decided to call them. We also looked up BBB to see if there were any complaints against this company; they were not BBB accredited but they also did not have any complaints listed which was good. The dispatcher took our information. Louis (sp?) called me back later that same day. He said he and Nick would come that night at 8:30pm. Both were very pleasant and happy when they came to check our roof, ventings, and flashing. Nick took pictures to show us that the vent flashings needed to be sealed down, renailed, rechaulked, and repaired. He also showed us that the furnace vent needed to be repaired since there were areas that were rusted/exposed. And the chimney flashing was to be repaired. They told us they would send two guys the next day to do the repairs. When we asked what kind of warranty comes with this repair i.e. what if a leak occurs in the same spot....Nick quickly replied "don't worry, we will do a great job, and if anything is wrong you can call me 25/7" (he purposely said 25/7 versus 24/7 to make his point). Nick was such a pleasure to deal with that when he came to collect payment for the job, we also gave him some homemade cookies we just made. =) Nick and Louis both said Nick went onto the roof on Friday after their men completed the job to check the work. Nick and Louis told us, they count on good reviews and referrals for future business. We told them, we are always eager to start up a good business relationship with companies who do good work...this time it was a small repair job....if the small jobs get done well the next time it may be a large full blown roof job we'll entrust into their hands.

Given we have not had a storm yet, we have tentatively scored them an "8". We will come back to update this post after a few months have gone by and we have a better idea how well the roof repair job was done. We can not go up there ourselves to assess (not about to climb up onto the roof of a 2-story house). Thanks for reading, we hope this review is helpful to others.

I called several companies for quotes but Royal Roofing came up on top for prompt response to estimate,cost wise and professionalism with personalization(friendly down to earth people). I was very happy with the work that was done in the time frame that I was told. Great team you have Royal Roofing, from the call centre to the gentleman who were on my roof.
