Sobol Inc.

We used Sobol Inc. to replace all the windows in our home. The owner, Archiel, provided a detailed and transparent estimate, and it was a lower price than the others we received. The crew was efficient, friendly and hard-working. They did an excellent job. This was the most pleasant, honest and reliable contractor I have encountered.

Sobol did a fabulous job, start to finish! I had two storm doors and two small windows installed and I couldn’t be happier. The price was exactly as quoted, which I appreciate after receiving quotes from larger companies where the quote changes depending on what special is on at the time, if I confirm today it’s this price, if I don’t it goes up to this price, etc. They were efficient, fast and very pleasant to deal with. I am thrilled with the end product and highly recommend them.

I had an old Toronto 2 bedroom semi with old wooden windows that were very drafty and let in neighbourhood noise. Found Sobol on Homestars. Archie came over and measured, we talked about what I wanted. I wanted all new windows except the kitchen. I also wanted bigger living room windows as the old windows were very small. About 10 windows all types were instatted: double hung w/grills in the 2 bedrooms, a slider in the basement, big casements in living and dining, as well as side casements and picture windows for the remaining windows. Emailed estimate, requires a deposit to book the job, which is fair. Clean and courteous, fast and cleaned up after job. House looks great and is quiet and warm now. I would use this company again.

This company was fantastic! I would recommend them to anyone. They were polite, quick, and paid attention to detail. If I had questions, even after the job was complete, they called me immediately, or if they were in the area, they would drop by. I don't know why more companies don't conduct themselves in this manner. You know who you are...Better Contracting!! Archie and his crew are second to none. After I had my basement and 2nd floor windows replaced, I was so pleased with their work...I called them to replace my side door. I will be using them again when I need my main floor windows replaced. This company impressed me, as they stood behind their word, they can be trusted...and you can't say that about many companies these days. Thanks guys!

We had hired Archie in the past for our windows in our 1950 bungalow last year, and were so pleased with his work, we called him back to turn a window, into a patio door. Archie and his team worked hard all day to get this huge project done - and went above and beyond what was needed. They took the bricks from the wall they were tearing out and filled up the old milk box as well as drywalling the inside of the kitchen where the milk box opening was.

The crew is polite, friendly and above all, left the house as clean as they found it. You wouldn't even know there was work done (well besides the amazing new patio door!)

I contacted 5 of the top rated Homestars window companies for a quote on my triplex. All were within $3000 of each other, with Sobol on the higher end. Archiel was very accomodating and lowered his price to be more competitive. What swung the decision was Archiel's vastly superior customer service, in-depth technical/ installation knowledge, detailed quote, one-time measurements. It became very clear to me early on that he knew what he was doing.
The scheduling for installation was not without its stumbling blocks but Archiel did what he could to make things happen. He even managed to get a new screen made for one of the existing windows where the other companies said it wasn't possible.
Aside from some early issues with their website, I was very happy with the team (Maga, and ?; sorry, forgot the 3rd member of the group!).
The installation went well, windows look great.
I would, without hesitation, recommend them to anyone.

PS. I gave them a '9' because 10 means perfect and I don't believe anyone is perfect. I would've given 9.5 if the option was available.

Prompt, tidy, polite. Archiel suggested windows that met our needs and stuck to the quote. We have waited several years to replace our windows and are very happy. Everyone at Sobol was a pleasure to deal with.

Sobol was on time for all deadlines and appointments. The price was exactly as quoted. The work was without fault (after 1 month); the workers created the minimum disruption and cleaned up after. Everything a contractor should be, but all to often isn't.

Right from the quoting process, through to completion, everything was on time, on budget, and just as promised. Sobol Inc. is more than worthy of being part of the HomeStars community!

Customer Service: Excellent overall - very professional, good communication - phone calls or emails returned the same day or by the next day. Very detailed estimate delivered as scheduled. Promptly arrived at the time scheduled, nice team of people. I didn't have any concerns about leaving the house while workers were there. Archiel was very patient with questions I had regarding types of lock, finishes, door glass. He is clearly knowledgeable about the quality of doors, locks and I felt confident about his knowledge. The scheduling of the actual installation was a little more delayed than I expected, in part because I had questions about the finish of the door and there may have been a communication problem with the person doing the scheduling. If you make it a point to follow up, this won't likely be an issue at all.
Archiel is also very flexible regarding what type of lock, glass you want to use, etc but you will need to do the research on these options. Archiel does provide some websites to point you in the right direction.

Product - installation of door done professionally including weatherstripping. The house is a lot warmer now! Regarding aesthetics, the finish of the door was darker and more towards "maroon", less "wood" like appearance than I had expected. I was looking for a walnut finish. I have seen fibreglass doors with finishes that are hard to distinguish from real wood. I wouldn't say that is true of my door because the colour is too maroon/burgundy. If you are particular about the finish, I would ask for an actual sample of the colour at the time of estimate. The Interior door frame - you should know that it will be unstained which I was aware after clarifying the estimate. I have an old house with a lot of moulding on doors and I think there were was a good attempt to re-create the frame after the old one was taken down but it isn't identical to the previous style. In part this was because their lumbar source didn't carry the same moulding, in part this was because some details were overlooked - to match the previous style, the wood piece over the door should be a little wider than the width of the door frame to give it the same "grand" appearance. The final product is fine, just not exactly what I expected. Of note, other companies would not even try to mimic the old style - they would plan to put in a plain wood frame around the door so what was installed by Sobol is better than I would have gotten from other companies. Again, if you are very particular, you would have to speak up to get the result you want.

Overall - I would definitely recommend Sobol Installation. For my next door however, I would ask to see samples of the actual finish at the time of the estimate so I would know exactly what the final product would be. I would also be more specific about the details of the wood frame recreated around the door.
