We have two children and a dog, all of whom subject our carpets to much wear and tear (we don't know why we chose light beige synthetic carpet - never again). My husband also has asthma. Our family life necessitates getting our carpets cleaned at least once a year. I've always found it a hassle - the carpets take forever to dry, there's that chemical smell, and it never seems quite clean enough. An environmentally conscious friend recommended Get Fresh Carpet Cleaning, and I'm glad she did. Bill is the owner and operator, and he is very professional and serious about carpet and upholstery cleaning.
His company advertises that its cleaning methods are fragrance free, odour free, hypoallergenic and non-voc...which all sound great. When I met with bill, he also explained his truck's steam-cleaning system reached a temperature of 121 C (250 F), which is hotter than what most carpet cleaning companies can offer (great - to me, heat kills germs).
I loved the sound of it all, but the clincher was how the house felt after he cleaned our carpets, couches and rugs. Everything smelled...clean. Sanitary. No chemical smell. Just the fragrance of hot dampness, which quickly dried (more quickly than anticipated - I think carpets felt dry after just two or three hours). Our light carpets looked great. Bill was thorough and meticulous, moving furniture when needed (of course we prepped beforehand and moved small furniture and knickknacks ahead of time), putting plastic tabs under table and chair legs, and ensuring darker furniture was avoided (to stop any potential "bleeding" of colour).
Bill knows his carpets and answered all questions (and offered detailed advice on carpet care). he gave me a bottle of his spot-cleaning solution, which works wonders on spills and stains.
I truly loved how the house smelled and felt after his visit.
I'm not one to make recommendations, but I found myself telling others about his services, and to my knowledge, they've all been happy and impressed with Get Fresh Carpet Cleaning. A month after he cleaned our carpets, our son was sick and vomited on the carpet. An email to Bill was quickly answered - he advised me to use our Bissell cleaner (using water and vinegar) and his spotter. A sprinkle of baking powder after, and the carpet looks and smells fine. He offered to come by to do a quick spot clean if needed (thankfully, it wasn't), and he even dropped off more spot cleaner a couple of weeks after, just because he happened to be in the neighbourhood.
I can't really think of anything negative, beyond the fact that he fell ill with the flu the day of our appointment, and had to cancel. Rescheduling was a challenge on both sides, which meant I waited another month (or two? I can't remember) before getting my carpets cleaned. I think he is a one-man show, so I can see how illness can throw schedules for a loop!
Bill truly gives the sense that he is a committed owner/operator who knows his service and product, and he provides something that I think we all appreciate these days - cleaning that is environmentally friendly and safe for the family and household. I would not hesitate to recommend his company and services to family and friends. We are building a new house, and will be installing wool carpets that he is also certified to clean, of which I am glad!
