Consulting - large scale project

We used Reiner as a consultant for a large scale project that ranged from demolition to a second level addition. Reiner's scope of work was direction on many activities such as technical drawings, sourcing of general contractor, permit approval, engineering alternatives, to occasional advice over a coffee during the life of the project. Reiner is fantastic to work with and is a positive expense to the project; specifically, Reiner saved me more money than his invoice at the end of my project. Reiner is very well established in the industry therefore he can bring a lot of resources to any project.

Entire House Renovation

I happily echo the other positive reviews about Reiner- don't consider a big or tricky job without him! We bought a 1920s house and planned a moderate-sized renovation to update it. Sadly, the house was full of dangerous electrical and plumbing work done by the previous homeowner and mold. We were so glad we hired Reiner to help us through it! He helped find us an incredible contactor- Angel at Ontario Villa- and went above and beyond to keep our project on time and organized. He was consistently responsive and helpful. A few times, I wondered how it's humanly possible to work as hard as Reiner, especially receiving emails at all hours and seeing him drop by the job so frequently. The city is full of bad work, high costs and shady companies. For an extremely reasonable price, Reiner is a knight in shining armour! We'd be happy to be a reference.

renovation consulting

I used Reiner's services for my first non-condominium income property. I needed the apartments in the triplex to be renovated and didn't know where to begin. Reiner took care of everything from finding qualified contractors to getting the permits, and getting the designer. I'm out of town, so I had peace of mind that he was checking in on how the reno was going. I would use his services again for sure.

Windows renovation

Recently had all windows changed with Reiner' s windows triple panes from Germany. Last winter damaged many of the windows. Reiner's windows are customer made from Germany. Worth the wait. About two months. Amazing windows. Fibreglass frame, well made very beautiful. Triple pane is outstanding.

Reiner made the process from measuring, ordering, delivery and installation- very professional as usual.

Had Reiner before for a major renovation. Recommend Reiner again. He makes renovation with peace of mind.

Basement reno

Reiner was a great help in getting helping us think through a major job of underpinning our basement then refinishing it. We had previously renovated upstairs and the experience of trying to manage the contractor who worked at his own pace had left my wife and me mentally fatigued, so we turned to Reiner for this second phase of the renovation. We are very happy that we did so!

He gave us very good advice and patiently explained trade-offs. He helped us select contractors and finalize contracts (including delay penalties!). Once the job started he was great at managing them and making sure the work was up to his high expectations and relatively on track. I also believe that with his sourcing and management of the contractors we saved more money than we spent on his fees!

I have already recommended him to friends. My one advice would be get Reiner in early (before even talking to architects) as he can then make sure all things are done right from the start and you don't need to back track.

Full home renovation

Reiner has taken the stress right out of the project, be it handling difficult neighbors, understanding our options and costs, and how best to deal with the adminstrative components. He is even helping us clear up issues that we have uncovered from a previous renovation much to our disgust (with the previous contractor). The people he has recommended have been excellent and we've had compliments from some of our suppliers even as to how pleasant and professional they all are. I could not recommend The Reno Coach more strongly.

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Call Reiner before you start doing anything, even if you're just in the "thinking about things" stage.

Whole House Renovation

Reiner was God sent. We ran into a lot of trouble with our previous contractor. We were out of the house for almost two years with no end in sight. Not only that, we lost a lot of money as well. Our previous contractor was highly recommended to us by one of our close friend…and even then, we still ended up in a renovation nightmare. It was a horrible and very stressful experience. We nearly gave up until we found “The Reno Coach”. After meeting with Reiner Hoyer, we knew right away he was the one. He’s very knowledgeable and knows the renovation business inside-out. He ALWAYS put us first and will ALWAYS put the best product forward. Shortcut work is unacceptable to him. Everything has to be done perfectly. With his connections and knowledge, our project started within 3 months. I couldn’t believe how fast he can push things. He’s done a lot more in that 3 months then we did with the previous contractor in 2 years!! Fees you may ask? Let’s say he’s fees is VERY REASONABLE. Renovation business is VERY shady, so please be careful! I highly recommend anyone who wants to renovate their house to contact Reiner first. Remember, his first 1-hr appt is FREE! So there is basically nothing to lose but SO much to gain. Out home renovation is ½ way there and we can’t wait for it to be completed in Feb!!! Thanks to REINER!

Home Gut/Reno with Addition in the Back

When my husband and I decided to update our 1970 Bungalow we were overwhelmed with the amount of planning and decision making that was involved and at what price? Who do we hire? Who can you trust? Once we decided it was time to renovate, we interviewed architects and contractors and felt very uncomfortable with the amount of information you need to know before starting a renovation like ours. We heard lots of horror stories. Well we can tell you that we feel very comfortable when we say hiring Reiner Hoyer is the best decision we’ve made so far. We feel secure that he is on our side. He supplies us with good, reliable and professional contractors at a price that is fair and reasonable.

Hiring Reiner will help avoid a lot of the hassles and headaches that can result in most renovations. Not only is he a true professional but he is extremely competent. When making a decision to invest in your home, take a ride with the Captain of the Reno Ship and it will be SMOOTH sailing.

Whole home reno

Amazing service from an incredibly genuine individual who is SO detailed, thorough, and knowledgeable! Reiner presented us with renovation /design options my husband never even thought of! He put us in contact with the best contractors to follow through with our plans/wishes. We 150% trusted Reiner with our whole renovation of our 50s bungalow. We love the 'after' so much... The transformation is incredible thanks to Reiner!!! If we purchase again, we will definitely hire Reiner AGAIN!

Consultant on 2-Storey Addition & Major Renovation

Reiner Hoyer, "The Reno Coach", was the best money we spent on our significant addition and renovation project on our North York home. We had decided to add on to and update our 1950s-built suburban family home, but we had no experience in construction, and further we heard nothing but horror stories from our friends and neighbours about their projects that went poorly and way over budget. Budget was our #1 concern as we are not "made of money". Reiner consulted for us from Day 1 and made sure that we did everything right, so we could accomplish our goal on-budget. He started by narrowing the focus of what we wanted to do (and could do) within the budget we set. He helped us find an outstanding architect who came up with extremely detailed, solid plans as our first step. With firm and detailed plans from the outset, we avoided almost all of the dreaded "change orders" during the construction that end up ballooning most people's budgets out of control. After completing the plans, he then helped us shop them around to contractors, and he helped us find the one we went with. When things were not going well with the contractor, Reiner did not leave us high-and-dry - he took personal ownership of the situation, and kept right on top of things until they were completed to our satisfaction. He was like our personal advocate during the process and at times it felt like, without him, we would have been lost. In the end, we were thrilled with the finished product of our renovation/addition, and thrilled with Reiner's role along the way. Further, his billing practices are transparent and fair. Most important thing of all: you can trust Reiner to be responsible, fair, and effective!
