Bathroom Reno & basement water damage

Les and his team first replaced water-damaged drywall and flooring in our finished basement due to a foundation leak and since we were happy with the results we proceeded with a complete reno of an en-suite bathroom which included shower w/ceramic tiles throughout, ceramic flooring, all drywall, ceiling, framing, ceiling fan and exhaust, lighting, etc. Workmanship is immaculate with exceptional attention to detail. We are admittedly very demanding customers and Les did not disappoint. Les is genuinely concerned with customer satisfaction and goes to great lengths to ensure everything is done to our specifications. He provides daily status updates on progress which is critical. He cleans up daily to ensure that surrounding living space is not affected. He is very honest and trustworthy and we will definitely use him again.

Company Response

Marius, Thank you for the excellent review. Much of the credit has to go to you and your wife for making excellent design choices and purchases of tiles, fixtures and furniture. The project took longer than I had expected and I appreciated your patience as we worked to finish quickly but without compromising on quality. I hope you enjoy many years of trouble free use of your new ensuite!

Regards,

Les, Tim & Chris

Bathroom Renovation

Wanted to replace a small shower stall in the ensuite with a large, glassed-in, 2-head shower. The end result was completed promptily and was much better than our expectations. The job (as with 99% of all renos) was more complex than originally thought but nothing seemed to faze Les and the end resuly was superb

Bathroom Exhaust fan/install Door Locks

I needed to get a couple of small jobs done and I called Handyman Matters- Mississauga to schedule the job. Tim the installer called before the appointment to confirm my availability and besides being friendly and efficient, he also paid attention to detail in seeing that everything lined up. The greatest surprise was that after completing the job the area was cleaned and I did not have to waste time doing that. Les was wonderful and took the time out of his schedule to call and advice me on what I needed to pick up.
The whole experience from scheduling with Judy, material advice with Les and installation by Tim was smooth and seamless.
Thanks guys and I hope to have you back when I need some more work done.

Thank you Rosetti. Our goal is to leave the work area cleaner than we started. Not always possible, but we certainly don't want to leave our customers with a mess. We look forward to helping you again in the future.

Odd Jobs

Just wanted to say thank you for taking on my entire “shopping list” of jobs needing to be done; some large and some trivial. I was impressed with how quickly you turned them all into jobs completed.

It was good work and great service, but I was even more impressed when one job needed further adjustment and you immediately came back…no hesitation. This is the mark of true professionals. Thanks again.

Company Response

Thank you Margaret for taking the time to write your review. We have a strong focus on completing jobs quickly and professionally, but more importantly we do honour the 1 year warranty we give to customers. That means that in the event we don't get it right the first time, we will be back to get it right the second time. I believe this separates Handyman Matters from the "chuck in a truck" types in our industry.

replaced soffits, fascia and eaves trough; built a new fence, bedroom remodelling (removed wall), living room remodelling (built wall and installed mantel for fireplace)

Les has done 5 jobs for us so far and we are now working to do the 6th. He pays attention to detail and makes sure the job is done right and the area is cleaned up throughout the reno and when he is finished. I recommend Les at Handyman Matters completely, we are completely satisfied with the work that he has done for us. We are now renovating our kitchen, we only had Les quote for the renos (putting in windows and doors and removing a wall) because we know that he will do it right and we will be happy with the end result.

Bathroom renovation/rebuild

I contracted Handyman Matters to do a complete tear-out and rebuild of my old bathroom. The original bathroom was a renovation done by the former homeowner. Quite frankly, the workmanship of the original bathroom was terrible! When the tear-out portion was complete it was determined that a great deal of additional work would be required to complete the renovation. This was work such as trenching a drain for the shower into the concrete floor due to the fact that the old drain was sitting on top of the floor and ran inside a wall. As well as the new drain, additional electrical work was required, repairs to a toilet drain was needed, as well as other items. Considering it would have been difficult to anticipate these items in the original estimate, Handyman Matters kept all charges for additional work to a minimum, and the final invoice price was very fair and reasonable.

All the work performed was of the very highest quality. Everything from the special insulation required for the concrete walls, the copper piping, the special Schluter (brand name)system used for the walk-in shower, and the tile work was all fantastic! The finished product is the best renovation I have ever seen! Already, two friends who have seen the new bathroom have asked me to contact Handyman Matters on their behalf as they have reno projects they want to undertake, but have yet to find a contractor with whom they are satisfied.

The other thing I noticed was how respectful Les was about the fact that I was living in the house while he was doing this reno. Les and Mike did everything they could to keep the construction mess/dust to a minimum. They cleaned up thoroughly every evening before they left and did all major cutting, tile work and all other work they could out in the garage so as to minimize the mess in the house. Les and Mike took short lunch breaks, were here in the morning by 9am and generally didn't leave before 6pm. This meant the reno was completed in a very reasonable amount of time.

Overall, I would say that you could not find a better crew to undertake any kind of home reno. Again, the quality of workmanship was amazing and the entire process was really enjoyable, compared to some of the horror stories I've heard from people I know.

If you need any type of reno done at your house, call Les at Handyman Matters. you will be very glad you did!!

Bathroom Renovation

What started as a simple bathroom facelift turned into a huge renovation project...due to the previous handyman's shoddy work. It could have been way more stressful had Les not managed the job...from accurate estimates, to helpful hints, to showing up on time, to completing the job as promised. I would use him again in a second, and have recommended him to friends and neighbours. You can't put a price on quality workmanship.

kitchen - drywall repairs

Les and Tim completed drywall repairs in our kitchen to our satisfaction. They were very thorough throughout the entire process, from giving us a quotation to arriving on time and completing the job in a timely manner. They paid attention to every detail and were dedicated to the task including clean up. We would highly recommend Handyman Matters to our friends and on any future projects that we have.

Vent fan installation, mortar repair, eavestrough sealing

We had a few jobs that needed to be done that I just didn't feel like doing myself - some brick mortar repair, eavestrough sealing, and installing a new 2nd storey bathroom exhaust fan that also meant installing a roof cap.

I called Handyman Matters, and Les came out a day later to review the work and provide a quote. He was on-time, friendly, and professional, and provided some very good feedback. His formal quote arrived the next day via e-mail.

Tim called the night before to confirm the scope of work and the start time. He was on time, very friendly, and did an excellent job. His cleanup afterwards was excellent.

I'll definitely consider calling Les again in the future for jobs I'd rather not do myself, and would gladly recommend him to friends.
