In Calgary, the minimum charge is $119 plus GST, $109 plus GST if you book online. Some items are priced by volume of the truck e.g. (1/8 of a load), which will be hard if not impossible for you to judge relative to their estimate as to volume. Example, a half truck load of sod would cost approx $333 in Calgary. There are also surcharges for some items. You will not find their price list anywhere on their website.
In my opinion, their marketing strategy appears to be to disclose the price list once they're at your home, ready to take the garbage you're anxious to get rid of and bank on the hassle of the customer having to decline their service and undertake to re-book the job for another time with a less expensive service provider.
The service was perfectly acceptable, but you will find the prices high(once they are disclosed to you). There is no valid reason not to disclose them on the website, even if they vary from city to city.
In the end, I used them to remove a mid-size BBQ, 7 pieces of metal fencing the size of a broom handle and two bags of concrete the size of 10lb flour bags for $109, the minimum charge. The driver felt it close to the next level, 1/8 of a load, for $150. Although expensive, I wanted them gone, and declined on the expensive sod removal.
Next time I'll spend the extra 10 minutes shopping by phone for a provider that discloses in advance their price based on my description of the items. It should be a simple undertaking for a company that is in the business of providing a removal service to give a good faith estimate of the cost of removing readily assessible items such as listed above. Even for other items which are hard to assess such as "some sod", knowing the price list at least permits one to be an informed consumer.
