Rewire Kitchen

Professional, responsive generally all around nice guys! I called in a rush when I realized electrical needed work before counters went in. Called on Sunday ... Garry came out Monday gave the quote and was able to do the work (with Justin) Tuesday. They went out of their way to accommodate my schedule ... such a change from trades met in the past! They also noted and fixed electrical issues (junction boxes & buried electrical - outside of the work requested) that were potential hazards that I was unaware of. The price was quoted and agreed on in advance AND was very reasonable! We now have new family electricians! Couldn't be more pleased with the whole experience ?

Basement renovation

I had the team at Home Town Electrical Services take on my basement renovation electrical work. I honestly cannot say enough about their team. Work included rewiring a significant portion of my basement, provide new washer and dryer circuits, adding a dryer booster fan that works off of an amp switch, troubleshooting some previous incorrect wiring, and deleting and adding new breakers in my breaker panel to suit current needs. The team was great at coordinating their work with my own renovation work in the basement. I was always kept in the loop about any deviations to the planned work due to unforeseen conditions. Also the job was completed at the quoted price. Would not hesitate to recommend or hire again.

Whole Panel replacement

Well it all started at 11:00 pm Friday night April 21 2017. In a state of panic my husband found someone fast. He seen the ad and called Home Town. Garry McRae answered and with no hesitation came to our home and assessed the problem. Saturday morning 9:00 am Justin (Garry's son) was here, started and finished all the work by 3:00 pm. Justin answered all my questions and concerns with light hearted understanding. Justin's work was impeccable and thorough he has a great sense of pride in his work. Garry came around 2:00 pm and helped finish up. Thank you so much for everything and having to put up with me during this trying time. To all the trades out there keep up the important work you do. With out you this world would be a mess.

Electrical issue on a Sunday

I lost power in part of the house on a Sunday afternoon and could not figure out the issue. Breakers looked fine. I called Home Town and Gary came by within the hour and found the problem right away. Gary was also very reasonable with the price. Thank you!

install pot lights and pendents.

Home time electrical had don work for me before and I was satisfied so I called them up again. I was told it would be about 1/2 day and would cost $1000 plus material over the phone. The Job was done in 1/2 day but was charged $1500 for labor.

The job was well done but I was not impressed with the unjustifiable price change.

Firstly, you were an existing customer who had given us prior work. Thank you for that. You were very pleased with us, and also extremely grateful for our thoroughness which most likely saved your home from burning down (while doing other wiring, we noticed a 3” framing nail piercing a 3/14 wire and repaired/re-wired it immediately).

Secondly, for this most recent Pot-Light job, you had initially called over the phone for an Estimate only. Our 30 second, over the phone, approximate, Estimate Only, was 1000$ + Materials + ESA Inspection + HST. You said that seemed very fair and told us we might as well come do an on-site Quote.

Thirdly, when we arrived for the scheduled on site Quote, we realized the work involved and work conditions were more than described over the phone. 1) We thought the kitchen renovation was in “rough-in” stage, when in fact the kitchen was 100% finished. The granite counter-tops were all installed, the Italian Ceramic floor was installed, the hardwood cupboards and doors were installed, etc. This meant we had to be much more careful and cautious. 2) The ceiling height was higher than standard. Your ceilings are 9’6”, which would make the job somewhat harder and slower than a standard 8’ ceiling. 3) Some of the pot-lights were to be installed in the attic portions of the kitchen ceiling which was hard to access and required more time. 4) The 3 expensive pendant lights to be installed were very awkward due to the size and width of the granite island counter. 5) You had purchased the wrong old style pot-lights and we had to pick-up and provide the proper type IC LED pot-lights and LED dimmers.

Fourthly, all these conditions, and more, are why the Quote was 1500$ Travel and Labour, + Materials, + ESA Inspection, + HST. You thought about it for 2 minutes, you called your wife for 2 minutes, and you shook my hand and gave me the job!

Fifthly, the job turned out great! All the pot-lights were perfectly aligned and laid-out according to your wife’s plans and your Interior Decorators plans, the Pendants looked amazing over the Island, all the dimmers were installed and everything was done without a single scratch or error.

And finally, you claim it only took two licensed electricians half a day (which is 4 hours for most people working a full time job) to do All the purchasing and material pick-up, All the travelling, All the setting-up and drop sheets, All the work, All the installations, All the clean-up and everything else in between. That couldn’t be further from the truth…
When the job was done, and we presented you with the invoice, You and your Wife seemed very happy. You wrote us a cheque for the full amount, you thanked us, you shook our hands, you wished us well, and off we went. As far as we were concerned, it was another job-well-done for a price that was justified and reflected the home and job conditions and expectations.
I was very shocked, very saddened, and very disappointed when I logged-on to Home Stars and saw the review you gave us… 2 stars out of 10… I understand you were hoping the price was going to be 1000$ like the over-the-phone Estimate Only, but you agreed to the Quote of 1500$ and gave us the job. This is a stab in the back. No matter whom it is, what the trade is, or the work involved, if someone, anyone, gives you a quote, and you hire them, pay them, and then give them a horrible review, that is lowest and dirtiest insult possible. Especially considering the fact the job was done perfectly, without any problems, and the fact you paid us, shook our hands, thanked us, cheque cleared, etc…
Never the less, I will still say thank you for the work. We gave you a quote, you gave us the job, we did the job, you paid us in full, and all is appreciated. It’s just the horrible 2 out of 10 review that really is insulting especially after you appearing to be so happy and grateful at one end, and then on the keyboard at the other end, you have a totally different opinion of us and the job done. Thanks.

Complete Electrical Renovation

We hired Home Town Electrical Services in August 2015 after purchasing a new-build home in Orleans. We had a lot of ideas we wanted to see done in the home. Home Town Electrical made those ideas into reality.

Justin met us at our home and we reviewed everything we wanted to do: 23 pot lights, pendant lights, under cabinet lighting, a 2-storey chandelier, swapped fixtures in bedrooms, ceiling fans, dimmers, new plugs, switches, fan timers. Justin took the time to outline exactly what we had to do to get what we wanted, what we had to buy to make it happen, what they would provide and a very reasonable estimate that showed what the job would likely be, and what it might be if we ran into issues (including what those issues may be). Very upfront and honest! We were very impressed by his professionalism and thoroughness.

During the job, all the lights had to be fished through the walls and ceilings. The guys moved quickly and wasted no time at all. With all the work we had listed, they even built scaffolding in the home to install the pendant light. It was really amazing to see the work they did in such a short time. Everything was done with great care as if it were their own home. The final product speaks for itself in the photos.

We would absolutely hire them again and recommend them to everyone. We could not be happier we hired Home Town Electrical Services.

Electrical Repairs

Very satisfied with Home Town Electrical. I have used their services twice. I required repairs to be done quite urgently. Home Town Electrical was the only company I contacted who was willing to provide service on a holiday weekend. Service was quick, efficient and done properly to code. Very reasonably priced as well. I would highly recommend them.

Replaced whole electrical panel on Christmas Day!

We had our electrical panel melt down just as I was putting the turkey in the oven at around 1:30 on Christmas Day. Both Home Town Electrical Services and Ottawa Hydro came to our rescue. A new panel was installed, energized and all circuits labeled by 7:00. We are extremely pleased with the prompt, professional and friendly service we received. Highly recommend!

Consistently excellent service at a very fair price

I am a repeat Hometown customer, and have always been impressed with the quality of service they provide. It is consistently reliable, professional, and courteous. I have never once had an issue with anything they installed. Moreover, I have always felt that I got my money's worth when they were at my house. Unlike many hourly-paid contractors, both Garry and Justin work very quickly and demonstrate a high degree of experience and skill in their trade. They waste no time, get right down to business, and consistently do an excellent job.

I would absolutely recommend them for any electrical job, whether it be small or large.
