Upgrade electrical Service from 60 amp to 200 amp

This company and its employees were fantastic. They were honest, upfront and did what they said they were going to do, when they said they would do it with absolutely NO surprises or "add-ons". I love these guys and would highly recommend them for any and all your electrical needs. I know for the rest of my life the electrical service is now perfectly installed. A great selling point for any of you thinking of selling your homes and doing an upgrade beforehand. Slightly more expensive than others but only marginally and worth every penny just to know things were done right.

Thank you for your review Michael. We "love" our guys too! ...You got to meet some of our "next generation" professionals today (one of our new Journeyman and two of our apprentices - and of course one of our seasoned veterans too). You mention that we were "upfront" and did what they said they were going to do." ...This is very important to our company, and a part of the culture of our people. No one likes "surprises" or extras being tacked on at the end of a job. When a company has the training, the experience and the right people in place, they can be confident in their pricing and in the work that they do. This is how we feel at Captain Electric. We are happy to have been able to serve you, and look forward to seeing you next time. ...bw

Electrical Panel Replacement

Dave from Captain Electric came out on Good Friday to access our problem. The quote was given and how the project would proceed turned out to be spot on.

On the scheduled day, they showed up and then Veridian showed up. The work was done and they were gone by 2:00.

Very happy with the work they did and with the explanations they provided of the process. Overall very impressed with Captain Electric for how they performed and presented themselves.

Very professional and very caring not to make a mess.

WE WILL CALL THEM AGAIN, if needed. 10 Star Rating

Thank you James. I am glad to hear how you feel about your experience with Captain Electric. When it comes to replacing an electrical panel, or upgrading the service, it does require good planning, with the LDC (Veridian in this case), with the ESA and with our team. Keeping power interruption to a minimum is our goal. Veridian is always well organized and on time for reconnecting power, and this helps us finish in a timely manner as well. Thank you for commenting on our workers not making a mess, your home is your castle and we want to keep it clean for you. We look forward to seeing you next time, when needed. Thank you for choosing Captain Electric. .....bw

Pot lights, fixtures installation

Just wanted to share my experience, which is very positive. My expectations were exceeded on numerous occasions - Dan and his team successfully completed few projects for my household. I will definitely continue working with the company and personally with Dan and highly recommend him to other customers. Recently Dan fixed the problem caused by other company installing pot lights. It was a difficult case when the ceiling was spoiled by other company but Dan found an excellent solution and now everything looks impeccable. What I love in Dan and the company he represents - they think first and do the job after that. Very often with other companies we unfortunately see the opposite.
Very well done Captain Electric and Dan's team!

Hi Victor, thank you very much for posting this review. We really do believe that our strength is in "our people." Dan has been a very valuable member of our team for many years, and has a good reputation in our company for solving problems, by thinking through the problem to find a good solution, and then executing that solution well. And Victor - we always enjoy when you drop by our shop to see us, you are always welcome. (Next time - stay for a coffee with us). We look forward to being of service the next time you need electrical work completed at your home. ...bw

Hi Mary, thank you for posting this review. We have been of service many times over the years, and are always happy to see you. I am glad to hear you are pleased with the work, and with our workers. Your new fan/heater is a very nice unit (the first one of it's kind that we have installed). The backdraft damper should completely solve the problem you were having before, from the original installation. We look forward to seeing you again. Thanks Mary .....bw

Knob and Tube Removal, Replace Switches, Install Astronomical Timer

We purchased a 100-year old semi in downtown Toronto, and had a few concerns with the electrical in the house. Home inspection revealed knob and tube in the master bedroom, and visually the outlets seemed old and misplaced. Light switch boxes were in strange locations, and the second bedroom didn't have a ceiling light fixture. After reading reviews on Homestars, we called 4 companies. 2 of them never returned my calls. 1 could only schedule my on-site quote appointment for 3 weeks away, and they were very hard to get a hold of on the phone. Captain Electric answered my call immediately, their front desk staff were knowledgeable and polite, I had no idea of technical terms for the things I needed to get done, but they understood exactly what I needed. They sent Enrico to my house that same week to do an on-site inspection and quote. He was so thorough, so patient explaining all the work he suggested should be done (not in a pushy way - in a "if this was my house" way), and the quote came back with options ... I was very very impressed with the process, with his professionalism, and his knowledge - especially of older homes. I hired him immediately upon receiving the quote.

Enrico was scheduled to come in the week following the quote, so I never had to wait for the work to be done. Him and his apprentice Kevin were super punctual. They were also the most conscientious workers. Booties over their shoes. Drop sheet where they kept the tools. Bags taped to the wall under areas they had to cut/drill to minimize dust. And they even cleaned up afterwards!

My impression was that Enrico and Kevin went above and beyond what was quoted for my job. I had knob and tube removed from the master bedroom. The house has no attic, so there were holes cut out in the walls to fish out the wires. But then Enrico plugged the walls back up and put drywall compound over it to patch it right back up! Completely unexpected and done in a professional manner.

They installed a ceiling light outlet in the second bedroom where there was none. Perfection.

They replaced an old macgruber hack job in the upstairs hallway (outlet with three plugs...?! from previous owner's "electrician") with an updated plug and again, they filled in the hole that was left. It was cut into the wainscoting, and Enrico even put a groove in the plastered area to make it look like the wainscoting was intact where they had cut. Amazing!!!

They installed an astronomical timer for my front porch light (automatically changes on/off time according to almanac/longitude/latitude), and changed my front hall 3-switch panel that had been installed INTO the doorframe into a standard 3-switch panel outside the doorframe ... And then yep, you guessed it, they patched up my doorframe with some putty to keep the frame intact. As I said, above and beyond!

When Kevin moved my couch to get to an outlet, he noticed one of the couch legs was loose. So he screwed it back on and drilled it so it wouldn't get loose again!

Now the best part. It only took two days! These guys are machines. Enrico and Kevin - THANK YOU. I now have peace of mind about the electrical in my old house, I now have faith in hiring contractors from Homestars, I feel so good to know I was not "ripped off" (which I was expecting as I was sure my ignorance of electrical systems was pretty much tattooed on my forehead). You guys will be my first call when we renovate the second floor.

The ESA inspector passed the work with flying colours, we have had no issues, and we honestly couldn't be happier with the quality of work, cost, and time it took.

Guys - thank you to you and your whole team. It was an absolute pleasure!!

Thank you Carolyn. We are always happy to hear when someone is pleased with our services. We believe that when a project is well executed, that things go smoothly for both the homeowner and the company. (Enrico and Kevin might seem like machines, but I have seen them stop to eat, and take a break on occasion - lol). You mentioned drop sheets, bags taped to the walls where drilling or cutting, and clean-up afterwards ... to our team, this is an integral part of our work. When we have completed any job, no one should be able to tell we were there, no trail of bread crumbs, no garbage or debris. Thank you Carolyn for putting your trust in Captain Electric, and we look forward to seeing you next time. ...bw

Electrical and lighting installation

Enrico is true professional. He does meticulous work and communicates the full scope of the job to be done. He has worked on my home on 3 different occasions and is extremely polite, thoughtful in his work and appears to be a very good teacher; Kevin, his apprentice has learned the business the Enrico way. These guys offer great results and peace of mind!

Dear J. - Thank you for posting your comments here on Homestars. We are always glad to hear when our clients are happy with our service. We have always believed that our greatest asset is our people, and that all of our team, from office staff to the electricians and apprentices in the field are what make the difference. ... we believe that if we always do the right thing for our clients, treat them like family, then we cant go too far wrong.
Kevin will be a journeyman very soon, and we have 2 new apprentices, which Enrico and our other electricians have the responsibility to teach well. ... Thank you again, and we look forward to visiting the next time you need us. ...bw
