New Home

Building with Trico was an awesome experience! This was mine and my fiances first home and we were so happy with every part of building our home from when we first walked into the showhome in Riversong, Cochrane until our possession day! The girls at the showhome were amazing and so helpful, and even came to visit us on our possession day. Our site supervisor was equally as awesome and was so helpful with all inspections and provided us with lots of helpful information regarding our new home, he was also very nice and always answered our calls if we had questions. We really enjoyed the design center and picking out all of our colours for our home as well, it was quick and easy and we were given lots of help as to what was going to look good, and it did! We also didn't have any delays, we were told at the beginning it would take 7-8 months to build and we were in in 7.5! We love our new home and would definitely recommend Trico to anyone who is thinking of building a home. Since we've moved in we've had lots of support from Trico with anything we need, they are very timely and give us lots of information on how to maintain our new home from the warranty department. Thanks to Erin Reeves, Erin Flasch, Derek Allen, Sarah Butt, Birgit Park and Yasmina Rodesly for making this experience such a good one! :) You guys rock!

House purchase

My fiancé and I fell in love with the duplex showhome in cochrane and decided that we wanted to build one. Birgit and Erin flasch were very helpful at pointing out our options as far as available lots and how we could change the showhome to meet our needs while staying on budget. While our house was being built we even got picture updates emailed to us every week as we lived out of town. The only problems we had were not really with the builder itself but with coast appliances (who they get appliances through), the builders lawyer, and some of the subcontractors as when we moved in there were several unfinished projects (light fixture missing, several dents/scratches in hardwood, missing stove, electrical outlet protruding from the kitchen island, burnt out light bulb in pantry, missing doorbell, minor cupboard and paint problems). Some of these were rectified on 'trades day' however one of the representatives said he would show up and never did to fix the other ones. All in all we have a beautiful house and the girls in the showhome were most helpful and professional throughout the process.

New home

Building with Trico was not only my first building experience but also my first time owning a home. Erin, Erin, and Jolene in the Cochrane sales office were excellent right from the start. They answered all of my questions and concerns quickly and always kept me informed. Now that I'm in my house I'm loving it and finding Don and Yasmina now being so helpful and prompt to address any issues in my new house! I recommend Trico and am very happy with my new home!!

New Home

Erin and Carmen were the highlight of our Trico experience. From the moment we stepped into the show home we knew we were buying. They are attentive, knowledgeable, and sincere. They made buying/building our first home a very positive and painless experience. The same can be said about Jessica in the warranty department. Issues since possession have always been addressed and dealt with in a timely manner.

New build

Our experience with Clint, Susan and Michelle at the show home was excellent. Clint was upfront, honest and had great suggestions to customize our home. Suzanne always gave us great advice and design tips. Michelle was so warm, friendly and went out of her way to send us updates on our home and made this such a positive experience. We cannot say enough positive things about the showhome staff!
There are some areas where Trico could improve. There was a real lack of communication with the site supervisor throughout the build and when our exterior was painted the wrong color he refused to address this. Thankfully Clint stepped in and was eventually able to have this corrected. The other area of improvement is the design centre experience. We felt very rushed and unsure about our decisons after the 3-4 hr appointment. Our design consultant tried to be helpful but there was such a pressure to choose something quick because we didnt have much time. It was quite stressful and disappointing when you are spending thousands of dollars and its suppose to be the best part of building a new home. Trico gives you the opportunity to attend a preview night on a week night, downtown after 4pm. This was difficult to attend as we were living at the other end of the city and got off work at 5:30pm. It would also have been nice to have a follow up visit with a designer without having to pay by the hour. The 2 previous builders we built with all offerred follow up appointments at no additional cost.
Since moving in the warranty service has been pretty good. Yasmina and Daren have been great. We had some issues with our furnace/humidifier and our concerns were addressed quickly. We have been waiting to have our garage floor relevelled and front door restained the right color sinced we moved in but hopefully they will be corrected in the spring. Overall our experience has been mostly positive and we are happy with our home.

New Build

My wife and I have lived in our new home for almost a year now, and from the very first day we stepped foot in the showhome to today, we have been provided nothing but respectful and excellent customer service. As an example, we built in the winter and consequently the grading of our lot was delayed due to the ground being frozen. As a result of this, we had water flow issues that resulted in water damage in our basement. I first noticed this late one evening perhaps around 11:00, and I made a call to Trico's emergency contact line. I got through to someone right away who provided me guidance on how to prevent further damage that night, and first thing the next day they had a team in our yard to build a mock-berm to block the additional flow of water. Trico made no arguments or fuss about having to re-do some walls in our finished basement. In fact when the gentleman came to fix our basement, he went above and beyond and fixed scratches on the walls I made when moving the couches. At all steps along they way of owning our first new home, we felt secure knowing that Trico was there to help us, and we never questioned their dedication to us.

I would genuinely recommend anyone build with Trico - you will not regret it.

New House

Chalsey in the sales centre was great to work with. She was very helpful with ideas and suggestions. We would recommend working with Chalsey to anyone. The design center was a bit misleading and not as user friendly. We had an idea of what we wanted to upgrade and what was to be left standard. We went with the standard faucet in the bathrooms only to find that they are actually too short for the pedestal sink. It is unfortunate that the standard products chosen by Trico are not actually acceptable when installed. We have lived in our house 4 months and have a few quality concerns. We have had a basement leak, multiple leaking toilets, squeaky floors and unacceptable carpet to name a few issues. Trico has been quick to resolve the leaking issues however it has been very inconvenient to still have workers in our house on a regular basis. Our "Dream House" still has a lot of quality concerns that we hadn't expected with a builder like Trico. We love the design of our house but would be hesitant to recommend them as a builder without making the buyer aware of our quality concerns.

New home

We had our Trico home built in Mahogany in 2010, and everything was very positive and comforting until we gave them our money. After that point everything has just spiralled down hill. There isn't a single day now that we don't think about how much our family hates our Trico home.
Our driveway has crumbled away following their sandblast fix when the issue was first brought up. A very thick layer of ice builds up on all the windows any time the temperature gets close to freezing as well as the patio doors, which has created mould problems. The vent fan lines out the side of the house have leaked causing drywall issues when the ice melts. It is embarrassing to bring company over when the temperatures get cold because of how drafty our home is. I could go on for days about the issues that have been brought up to Trico and bandaid fixed to the point we've given up our fight to keep our own sanity. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The quality of workmanship in our home is truly saddening. Would certainly look elsewhere for our next home.

Company Response

Hi Ryan, we are sorry to hear that you are not happy with your Trico Home. The thick layer of ice on your windows is due to condensation in your home. Every home has different levels of condensation due to several factors such as: cooking, showering, fish tanks, plants, laundry use etc. When the cold air from outside meets the interior warm/moist air it is common to see ice build up on the windows. Lifting your blinds 2"-4" will help with air movement. In addition, we recommend that during the cold temperatures you turn on the bathroom fans while showering and let it run for atleast 30 minutes afterwards. Turninig on the furnace ventalation system will also help. We are sincerely sorry that you feel this way about your home. Trico always stands behind our product and will repair and conduct inspections based on Alberta New Home Warranty standards and building codes.
Please feel free to contact me at anytime.
Sincerely,
Nicole Walker
