Last year, I began the process of investigating contractors for the renovation of my main bathroom which was in dire need of a major overhaul. For those readers not interested in the details of my experience, I will say up front, that I chose and contracted Cera Stone through Home Depot and was extremely happy with my experience and my resulting beautiful bathroom. I would use Cera Stone again, without hesitation.
My first contact with Cera Stone was with Antonio, a designer and sales representative for the company. He was punctual and extremely detail oriented. He came to my home and looked at my bathroom, discussed my goals, took photos, measurements and within a day or two sent me a quote. It included a comprehensive list of the work to be done and the amounts allocated for each product covered by the contract. During the buying phase, I was able to go 'over or under' the allocations and was provided with updates to let me know where I stood with my budget. Antonio worked with me on the 'beachy look' I was going for, made recommendations, and steered me clear of products that he felt weren't good choices and explained why. This guidance was invaluable. He also met me at Home Depot, took photos of the products I was considering, as well as their details and emailed these to me, as a reference. I was not limited to Home Depot, which I appreciated and bought different products from a variety of sources. Cera Stone facilitated the process of ordering and paying for products. I did purchase a few things on my own.
Most of our communication was by email. Antonio always responded within 24 hrs. Once the products were ordered, Cera Stone stored everything until the reno began. Antonio provided me and the installers with drawings of my old and new bathroom that included overall placement and measurements. Antonio was a consummate professional, always on time, calm when dealing with my concerns, very helpful and practical in presenting me with options. He was superb in every possible way.
Dino, the master plumber, was an excellent tradesperson, did a fantastic job with my plumbing and went beyond the scope of his scheduled work. He dealt with a crisis in my basement powder room that was indirectly related to the reno. The toilet was old and rarely used. This resulted in flooding because it couldn't handle the additional use by family and workers. Dino was persistent in his trouble shooting and didn't stop until he had taken care of the problem. This action was supported by Luigi, the project manager, which I so appreciated as it was a real nightmare.
Dino and his team, besides the regular installation of toilet, shower, and tub in the main bathroom, also relocated pipes from an above floor bulkhead. This opened up my small 5' x 9' space which allowed me to get a larger vanity. In short, Dino was a miracle worker.
My primary installer Lee was highly skilled, especially with regard to the tiling of the walls, floor and bathtub niche. He was always punctual, hard working, and pleasant. He set high standards and his work was clean, precise and beautiful.
John, a master installer with experience in every aspect of bathroom renovation, did the installation of pipes that fit my new vanity, as well as the floating shelves. He also worked on the wall and floor tiles when an extra hand was needed. He installed things with an aesthetic eye, correctly and without compromise.
Other trades doing installations (electrical tasks, a bathroom fan, window/door trims, painting walls/doors and a custom order mirror) showed up when scheduled, worked well in a timely manner, trouble shooted when necessary, removed debris and cleaned up after completing their work.
Administration was helpful and prompt to respond to my questions and concerns usually within a day or two. They were also kind, professional and accommodating, especially through the more trying aspects of the renovation.
It is a rare renovation that goes forward without some challenges.
These are to be expected given all the moving parts and the many different trades involved. I would say that any problems that occurred might have been avoided with a little more communication, since I was on site and available throughout the renovation.
Before beginning each new phase of a renovation, I would suggest the installers review with the client what they will be doing. Taking two minutes, to do this would have avoided an extended delay in the completion of my renovation. The shower doors were installed in reverse with the sliding door on the left and the fixed door on the right where the bathtub faucet was located. Reversing their positions required waiting for a new part, removing/replacing tiles, redrilling holes, and reinstalling the shower doors.
I was impressed that Cera Stone fixed the error and did the work required to ensure access to the water source without having to climb into the tub. They stood by Home Depot's policy of the client's 100% satisfaction guaranteed. I couldn't have asked for a better or more professional response.
I am thrilled with and enjoying my beautiful new bathroom. Choosing a contractor can be very stressful. I am so happy and grateful that I chose Cera Stone through Home Depot and would gladly use them again for any further renovations to my home.
