New Home

I absolutely love my new back to back townhome from Richcraft Homes. I shopped around thoroughly before making my purchase decision and I was very impressed with the quality and workmanship that Richcraft Homes had to offer.
I just recently completed my first year list of which there were only 3 small deficiency items.
I would highly recommend Richcraft Homes to anyone looking for the best value for your dollar.

Trailsedge Nightmare

Where to begin?

We selected a new home with Richcraft, and it has been a nightmare from the beginning. Their sales agent was obnoxious and completely unhelpful. We selected a model that had not been built before, asked for detailed plans to ensure we understood what we would be getting, and were refused. We explicitly stated we needed the mechanical area of the basement located as per the signed floorplan. Over the course of construction and into the closing:

1. They relocated the mechanical area without our consent or knowledge - even after we noted pipe changes and asked again about this possibility through the sales office, they denied they had moved anything and then surprise! The whole area was constructed in what was to be a future finished part of the basement. After meeting with the V.P. of construction and after agreeing to a compromise in good faith, they then installed mechanical components outside the mechanical area a 2nd time !!!! Still unresolved.
2. They incorrectly installed the kitchen cabinetry without the proper bulkhead tie-in, and we had to point it out to them several times before they fixed it pre-move in
3. They incorrectly installed the granite countertop without the proper gap for the stove location. Still unresolved after moving in. - our stove now has to sit in the middle of the kitchen aisle, preventing access to the dishwasher or around the island.
4. We asked for a pair of ceiling speakers as an upgrade. They installed one and not the other. When again, we had to point it out to them (DUH), they ripped out the ceiling to install the 2nd one and left a poorly, visibly obvious repair job on the ceiling.
5. The door to the garage doesn't close properly and was pre-damaged.
6. The entire subfloor of the hallway and main room is uneven and they simply installed the hardwood over it. Now the entire finished floor has "waves" or ridges of uneven height.
7. The steps to the basement have been incorrectly installed and are starting to creak and shift (only one week after moving in)
8. The stairway banister we paid extra for was heavily pre-damaged in many areas. Ditto for the fireplace mantle. They refuse to replace them, they will only "touch them up"
9. The roof leaked right through the ceiling all over the kitchen area during the very first rainstorm. The one or all of the siding, roof and roof vent had been improperly installed. There is likely enough damage that the whole ceiling will need replacement as well.

I'm just getting started....... there are dozens and dozens of other problems. Caveat Emptor !

New home build

Bought a new townhome from Richcraft and had nothing but trouble. The house has leaked every year since I purchased it. Richcraft blamed that on me saying it was ice damming, and that I should have removed the ice from the roof. I had to replace the roof after 3.5 years. When the shingles were taken off the roof, there was no ice and water shield under the shingles and the roofer told me that the shingles were older than the house. He said Richcraft leaves leftover shingles on the ground of a building site and then when they have a small build, they go and pick them up and use them years later. Since then, the water has been coming from the house next door. I had 3 water leaks in the basement, the first was filled with cement (that doesn't last), the next year apoxy was used and the third year it was polyurethane. Every time they showed up, they damaged something else. Had a problem with the dimmer switch in my dining room. That was replaced with one that had been recalled. I only found out after I had burnt my hand on the switch. When the electrician arrived to replace that one, he stepped on my dining room table with his boots on to take lights out of the chandelier and damaged my table top by taking 2 chunks of wood out of table. Richcraft said that I could not prove that. I told them that I lived alone and I would not damage my new tabletop by standing on it. I had pictures of the damaged table and workboot prints leading to the table. The workers cut my kitchen floor too short and glued a piece in with a dirty hand which showed up as a 3 foot dirty snake pattern in front of my cupboards. Richcraft would not fix it. Other major problems with the flooring was that the flooring itself was defective as yellow stains started appearing in my kitchen and half bath that looked like urine. Richcraft refused to replace the flooring so the flooring representative told me it was defective and Alexander flooring paid for the replacement. However, they used the Richcraft people and they took a large piece of ceramic out of the pedestal in my half bathroom and put it back after they filled the crack with cauking. I never received the upgraded underlay either, so if you bought upgraded underlay, pull up you air vent and check to see if it is what you paid for. Also, there was no insulation in the front closet as my water pipes froze and they were plastic so they had to open the closet twice due to leaks. Finally I paid out of pocket for foam spray insulation. I took them to small claims court to get back my money for the roof and the insulation and the maximum vent for the roof. My court date was scheduled when I was in the middle of chemotherapy for cancer which I probably got from the stress of trying to deal with these p*****, but my claim was thrown out as I did not get an inspection before buying a new house. I advised the Judge that an initial inspection would not have shown that the shingles were nailed directly to the wood and that the insulation was in the soffits. The judge didn't care. He referred to me by my last name and the Richcraft people received a salutation of Mr. I could elaborate further on problems encountered, but I think you get my drift. I would never buy another RIchcraft house and I would not refer them to anyone, least of all my worst enemy.

New single home in Riverside South

So the sale wasn't even a good start. When I bought the home I said I want the same as the model home. After the deposit was made I wasn't allowed to change anything in the home. I went to cancel the sale and told them keep the deposit I don't need the headache they then let me modify the home to the same as the model. Hardwood was installed wrong way as per agreement , parking is falling off the house, leak in the wall from a screw going through waterline, water bib drywalled inside the wall, scratches and dents throughout home, furnace was filthy had my own guy clean it, ducts filthy had my own guy do it, sod is half ass installed not even put down ,bricks have holes throughout the exterior, exterior was damaged before move in , soffit facia and siding damaged had to go through tarrion to get it fixed. I can keep going on and ....

Quality of work.

Sales and design had no real issues...

It's the construction and early inspection issues..

Never had doors in a house need over 5 visits to still on fix properly.. On going issue.

Fighting the service team for items that they are responsible for to fix is nothing less then a nightmare.

Their construction foreman is truly a tool on his own. Nothing is their fault but yet they built the home.. Foreman man everything seem like not a issue pushing everything off.

Service team after sales for pdi and 30day inspection repairs have been here more then 8 visits over 10 weeks! We feel taken advantage off. 10 days off costs avg 2000.00 in work money..

I'll be writing to president of richcraft shortly to see if this displeasure continues in all departments of this builder..

Sale team good job
Design team only 5/10 due to a screw up they didn't want to confess to.
Construction team I'd have to say complete failure.

Owners and VPs I'll have
to see what happens..

Terrible customer service

I put an offer on a 2008 model home owned by richcraft but listed by an agent. 0nce the offer was accepted, I made a $5000 deposit and did an inspection. Unfortunately my financing did not work out and I asked richcraft to let me out of the contract since financing was part of the conditions stated in the contract. It has been over a month now and richcraft has refused to give me my deposit. I have called the office several times and Natalie smith is always in a meeting. She only called back once and said they will contact their agent and still no word. I will never ever deal with richcraft again. Customer service sucks. If I don't hear from them this week, I am hitting social media and court.

Home

- Our front door lock was broken on day 1. We had creaks throughout the 2nd guest bedroom. They even forgot to put a closet specified in the model home. The tub faucet broke after a mere 4 years. All the carpets got loose in 3 years. When fedup put it up on the market. An inspector found issues with the drain pipe being joined with ajacent condos. Sold at a loss.

New Home Build

I enjoyed working with this company. We bought a new townhome in riverside south. It was great from the sales office, the lady was so nice and helpful, to the design center where they matched us with someone our age and taste, to the move in, they were so friendly with submitting the inspections and completing the work.

Trails Edge, Orleans

We purchased a Richcraft home expecting a better build with a lot less problems. The house was on time. The builder would not accomodate any changes to the original plans. The sales and design staff were confused over how handled what, ex we wanted the basement window enlarged - at the sales center we were told they would automatically be larger due to the grading of the lot but when we confirm at the design center we would told other wise. Richcraft would not accomodate even though they informed us wrong. The plumbing in the house has been a nightmare with toilets and sinks leeking and the house needing drywall, ceiling and cabinet repairs. The after sales Debb & Steve have been very nice and polite and are always ready to help. Unfortenatly the forman and other Richcraft employee that are still constantly on our street are continiously ignorante and rude. Blocking traffic when you are trying to get to work to have side by side meetings and conversation in their vehicle. Even completly ignoring you when you honk.
