We contacted Home Appliance Repair because they were recommended by the manufacturer of our Range Hood which needed repairing. I checked them out on HomeStars and most customers seemed happy with them. We had two issues with the range hood, one was the motor vibrating and the second was a problem with the light fixture that made it so we could not change the bulbs.
The technician came to the house and spent quite a bit of time checking the motor and the fixtures. He was also not able to change the bulbs. We were told that he would get us a quote for a new motor and would contact the manufacturer about the light fixtures.
After a week, I didn’t hear back from them so I called Joanne to follow-up. I was told that she would look into what was going on with the repair and call me back. She didn’t call. I followed-up with her the following week and then once a week for the next three. I always received the same response; “Let me look into what’s going on and I’ll get back to you”. No one ever got back to me. After three weeks someone called to ask what country our hood was made in. I provided the information and then…nothing. After five weeks, someone finally called with the cost of replacing the motor. When I asked about the light fixtures, she didn’t know anything about them. Five weeks to provide a quote for a partial repair! I told her to close the file, that we would not be using their services again.
Perhaps this company is good for easy and immediate repairs. Since the light fixtures appeared to be a problem (even the manufacturer admitted that to me), perhaps the repair was too much for them and they just didn’t want to be bothered. Once the technician came out the house and I paid for the service call, the service ended there. Although the technician tried really hard to figure out the problem with the light fixtures, based on my experience I would not contact them again.
